Headlights could be better but overall I like it. I like the idea of bringing back the gullwing. The original will never lose it's charm or exclusivity because a new one will be miles apart in technology and style.
Interesting idea, but where would Mercedes position this car? Above the SL500 or below it somewhere about the SLK? If the priced it about the SLK and below the SL, I think it might
work.
Considering the success of the CLS, the gullwing SL might be a nice addition to Mercedes'
lineup. An nice 'alternative' looking car with a proven foundation.
German magazine AutoBild says of a forthcoming Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (in our rough translation): The flying tourer returns! (Photo courtesy of AutoBild)
STUTTGART, Germany — German car magazine AutoBild has just published a story saying that Mercedes-Benz will build a latter-day version of the classic 1950s 300SL Gullwing.
The magazine's cover story, under the title "The flying tourer returns," shows a sketch of an enticingly curvy, 21st-century update of the timeless design. The Left Lane News Web site comments that the car looks like it "could slot somewhere between the SLK and the SL/CL models."
