The Dec 07 issue of Car and Driver says the Skyline GT-R is NOT the same platform.

"The foundation for the new GT-R will be a chassis dedicated to this application—no commonality, according to Nissan, with the corporate FM architecture, the structure that made a grand entrance on the revived Z car in 2002."

The confusion is the Skyline is the G35, but the new designed GTR is no longer carrying the Skyline name, and just called GTR.

FM architecture is the PLATFORM...Front Mid architecture shared by the Z/G35/Stagea/M45/and whatever else Nissan uses it for.

As Chris stated, the Nissan Skyline is our G35 with badges.
The GT-R is now a stand alone model.
I want to say the Skyline is FM and the Skyline "JM".

Please correct me if I am wrong
