Default Importing/Buying a car from Canada...

Has anyone here done this before? How difficult is this to do? How much tax do you have to pay?

Anything and everything you know, post it here.

If its a jdm car then your in for a major headache getting it across the border and registered. Its possible but it takes time. I know a kid that just imported a R32 GTR and it took him a few months to find a legal loop hole.

Here's some info from local Washingtonians.

Edit- Just saw that your from Cali so it maybe even harder down there with how strick they are with modified imports.

it's not a jdm car. not rhd either. its over 21 years old.

and we have this car here in the US, just overpriced lol. so i would think the car should meet the US safety regulations as far as the crash bar/bumpers etc.

i know that you would need to pay sales tax for where you are located. the average for the average for most major cities in Washington is 9.5%.
im sure you would need to get an emissions test done.
and there is the possibility it would need to be inspected same as a salvaged vehicle would be

I would imagine it would be fine but most likely subject to inspection at WSP.

You might want to try giving them a call or the DMV or customs maybe. You could prolly try the emissions place too to see what their standards are, but I doubt they could give you much information.

This link might be helpful for you, not sure but couldn't hurt to check it out:
