Default Time for a new car.

Well its time. My 2000 GS 400 has 116k miles. Its time for somthing new.

Here is what I'm looking at.

2005 Jaguar S-type R
2006 Lexus GS430
2007 Infiniti G35 S SEDAN

35k max price. What do you think. Any other options?

Stay away from the Jag, one of my boys had one and the damn thing was in the shop half the time. Finally he was able to get it lemoned and received all of his money back. I have had a few friends and family own jags and unless you buy new and have a warranty I would pass up on it.

not the Jag R, they will probaby spend half of the time in the shop for repairs.
The G is nice choice, But I would go for GS430, I am biased.

Of those cars, I'd say the Infiniti gives you the most for your money, it's better looking and faster (I think) than the GS for less $

If you can get a GS430 for $35K, then that's your car. You shouldnt even bother with the Jag.

would you consider any others, bigger sedans, coupes, suv's?

you have narrowed yourself down to very few options.

My personal opinion is get into something a little different, do you really want to be staring at the same interior for another 4 + years. But this is from a guy who went from a old SC to a new SC so what do I know

I was in the same boat as you (looking for a new car) but I knew what I wanted based on my desire. If you desire a continuation of what you had prior in the Gs400, and are pleased with the ride & how it drives, then GS430 is your car. If you desire a new car experience, from the choices you noted, I would select the G35 sedan due to its excellent driving feel, & performance over the others. What do you seek in your next ride is the question??

To be safe first. I want as many air bags as possible cause I got kids. Nav is a must. I really want somthing I can toss around. Of course the kids will not be in the car ! I really don't care about drag race speed cause I don't race, but I do need some power when I want to get up on it.
