Arrow BMW 128i/135i pricing announced....

from:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2362

The 128i coupe, with a 3.0-liter, 230 horsepower I6, starts at $29,375, while the 135i, with the twin-turbo, 300-horsepower six, clocks in at $35,600.

Not cheap.

Not cheap but maybe for good reason. Im sure they did not want to cannibalize 3 series sales and factored that in while pricing this car. Or maybe it was done too for those who dont know BMW very well and liked this car. They might look at it then look at a 3 and realize it's only marginally more and upgrade...?

What the 3-series should be priced at. I never understood this car. That price is just silly.

Thats base so imagine what the price would look like when you start adding packages. It would be close to a 3er coupe. Very dumb move by Bavarian Motor Werks.

I guess it's for the people who doesn't like the look of the 3-series coupe, this will be their smaller alternative? Because that's the only comparison where you can see a significant difference in price.

I'll reserve judgment until I get to drive one.

Let's just say, in theory, that the 135i is nearly if not as luxurious to drive as the 335i in every aspect (standard features, ride, interior quality, noise, etc) except of course interior volume.

Yet it weighs less and costs less. So what if it's only a couple hundred pounds and $5k... if I could save the weight, gain the performance, save the money, and not give up anything except interior volume... then I'd be all for it.

With that said maybe the 1 really will be a significantly cheapened version of the 3 with lots of compromises for only a small savings and small gain in performance. In that case then yeah I'd just stick with the 3...

I think the price gap between 128i and 135i is too large. I guess BMW doesn't want people to think 1-series is too cheap. Now at least 1-series is on par with Lexus IS price-wise.

Bingo. This car is based off the 3, uses 3 engines and smaller and less luxurious and priced nearly like a 3.

You really have to be a fan to buy one at MSRP. Now I think I have to take my thread back.

Seriously, these prices are loony. They are literally the same price points as an IS250/IS350. The 3 series has inflated in price SO MUCH that BMW is able to price its lower model the same price as its competitions' cars. That fact speaks wonders about how much BMW owners are getting shafted nowadays.

STi/Evo time, 135 shouldve been 33k at the most. LOT of 128s are going to sell, barely any 135s

That's what I was expecting: the 128i at $30k, and the 135i at $35k.

Reasonable honestly: you're paying for the engine mostly, and the perks of the car secondly.
