You know what? It doesn't even have to be Porsche like. If they can do what Hyundai did with the Genesis Coupe V6, for ~$30ish I'd take it. I like the performance specs that comes out of the Genesis Coupe, but my god I think that thing is ugly. Would much rather have this FRS with the same performance.

Toyota FT 86 Specs
Toyota confirmed today the specs of the FT-86 production version, which is getting closer and closer to its premiere day. The Toyota FT-86 will be a new model, developed in collaboration with Subaru, which will be marketed as a Scion too (the FR-S). The production version of Toyota's FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated boxer engine, developed by Subaru. Toyota will add to the horizontally-opposed engine its D-4S technology, which features a direct injection system combined with port injection.
The Toyota FT-86 will be sold with a choice between a six-speed manual transmission and an automatic gearbox. For the manual version of the FT-86, Toyota promises quick and precise shifts with a short-throw, while the automatic model will come with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
Toyota's FT-86 will be a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicle and will come equipped with a limited-slip differential.
In terms of design, the new production model will be based on the Toyota FT-86 II concept premiered at this year's Geneva auto show. Some of the styling features of the concept however, might not make it into production.

I also wonder what the difference is going to be between the Toyota version and the Scion version. Pretty amazing both cars will be sitting side by side in alot of dealers.
I assume the pricing will be Subaru>Toyota>Scion?

IMO, its going to be hard for Subaru to differentiate themselves from the Toyota models without AWD.

So Subaru > Toyota (non-US) = Scion (US). (my guess)

Ya, Scion will be the US version. Everywhere else will be the Toyota. Probably just a change in badges (and 5mph bumpers).
The Subaru version I suspect will offer different content, probably at a higher price. I don't suspect the engine will be different at first, but it is possible they might do a turbo in the Subaru and non-turbo in the Scion.

Also, this is low sales car, dont expect Subaru to get version that Toyota doesnt get.
I hope Toyota/Subaru/Scion will get turbo version down the road, because thats what most people will look for.

Not in the US... right? AFAIK, Scion = Toyota everywhere else in the world.

I am excited to see these all over the place in the future. I am sure it will be a tuner favorite as well based on platform and price. I think we have a classic in the making
