Our Mis badged Loaner
I blurred the license plate, dealer markings and background for obvious privacy concerns. Took the pic with my treo so the quality is kind of bad.

How does having a wrong badge on the car conclusively prove that has to do with Mercedes quality control ?
Maybe someone just put a different badge on it for fun (silly as that might be) ?
The CLK280 model is available outside the N.American market BTW ...

Yep, Im going to have to say that someone changed the badging.
A few years ago when I worked for Volvo we got a truck load of S60's, XC70's, and XC90's with the D5 badging (Volvo talk for 5-cylinder diesel engine). Mistakes happen. No big deal. They were all fixed before anyone purchased them.

so maybe I should change the post title. I'm not dumping on European cars both my parents drive Mercedes. My Dad's previous car Mercedes Ml350 changed my perception of Mercedes car quality forever we just dumped it 2 weeks ago. It had alot of problems, rattles, etc. But our current 2 the C240 and E350 both seem to be very reliable.
I effected my quality perception of the company because if the factory did not know what type of car there building I believe that there most be some other issues. That was before I never knew that car company's change the badging to be funny. I guess I missed that joke. Now I know
I believe the CLK was just for there 2 door models regardless of what country you are in.

Years ago I bought a Toyota that was mis-badged and got it for a great deal (thank Toyota) because of it! It was really a Corolla FX-16 and the rear badging (a decal stripe) just said "FX" which was the base model. I got the car for the FX price and saved more than a grand.
the funny one is what I saw another day, a 1995 Benz badged as S800!!!!

The only Mercedes I don't like is the "egg".
All the rest have purpose in some way and I like certain aspects of them. It obviously gets better as we go up in the Mercedes food chain, but even the C230 Kompressor has a certain amount of appeal to it visually. Just not the egg, I hate that car with a passion.
Everything else is sex on wheels.

. I personally feel my dads car has the best balance of everything, comfort, size handling, power and it get decent fuel economy. To bad its Rear Wheel Drive, lets see what happens when it snows
. I think someone going to end driving the Sienna.Does anyone here have any real snow experience with real wheel drive? maybe someone with a GS can give us some feed back since the GS and E Class are are very similar competing in the same class. both Rwd
