Actually, Lexus is thinging of going small.

They have the LX, GS, and RX; which will stay, but an IS-based cross-over has been discussed/rumored. Imagine the elevated 1IS sport-cross (same size as the Rav4, bigger than the CR-V)...

The small Lexus CUV may not be available in N.America even if they make it ?

& I think he may be referring to the GS-based cross-over with 3 rows of seats like the HPX/LF-X concept ...

No small SUV.
JX is 95% approved, GS based, think Cayenee/X5/FX fighter
Next RX remains 5 seater, stays about the same size
LX just grew in length
GX is updated for 2008

Oh, I forgot about that.

That would be interesting. If the RX stays FWD/AWD (hence able to handle only the ~270 hp 3.5L 2GR-FE engine, then the JX will be RWD?/AWD, giving it the appropriate chassis that can handle an appropriately tuned ~380 hp 4.6L 1UR-FSE engine.

How cool would that be?!?

I see it happening as Lexus truly needs a sportier SUV to compete with the likes of Porshe, Audi, BMW. The IS platform is a good base.

I think the interior size would be quite small if based on the IS platform, unless they can get it to Rav4 size

It is? I'm thinking it's a small update then because I haven't heard anything about a new design coming out until probably the 2010 model year.

What are they changing?

Speaking of new Lexus products, I really hope this rumor is true:

Hopefully it's true, & there is still the question of whether it will be a regular coupe or a hardtop convertible coupe, or there will be both ...

They will think they need it if their market research indicates they need another variation ...
