Default Your thoughts on the new Mitsubishi Outlander

During my commute this morning, I noticed a silver suv with HID's shining in my rear view mirror. When I slowed down and moved over to the next lane, I realized this suv was a Mitsubishi Outlander. To my suprise I saw what appeared to be a navigation system in the middle of the dash of this Outlander. Very attractive ute imo. What are your thoughts about this vehicle?

Looks like a RX330\350 from the rear too much! Not a big fan of Mitsubishi.Gotta admit I like the new Lancer though.

Man, you really like small SUV's.

I think they are pretty nice. I dont see many of them though.

But they have Paddle-shifters yo!! (from those damn commercials)

I find it ugly. Mitsu always has to throw in some strange window shape to bungle up an otherwise ok design.

I really like it a lot, and appreciate the fresh styling. In a sea of bland (RAV4) and downright ugly (CR-V) small SUVs, I find the Outlander pretty promising inside and out. Sales seem to be decent too, as i have seen quite a handful the past few weeks.

This and the Lancer represents a good effort from Mitsubishi.

I've said it once and I'll say it again Mitsu just got SAVED by the Outlander and the new Lancer. They were on the brink of bankruptcy when Mercedes sold there 38% share back in 2004.

my girlfriend's father is a manager of some sort in their IT department (works in Whittier?)

and gets crazy cheap lease deals up to 3 cars for the family--and currently both of them are Outlanders...an ugly green for the girlfriend and a silver for himself--neither of which have paddle shifters.

I had the uh...rather boring experience of driving it--and it's just another car. nothing special, nothing exciting. If anything the driver's seat is kind of "recessed" into the car. it really doesn't feel like you're driving an SUV because the seat is so "dug-into" the passenger compartment--it's actually rather weird. Even the Honda CR-V from two generations ago has a better view out than the Outlander.

The engine really isn't all that either--it's got an aggressive throttle, but besides that, it really doesn't feel like it's powerful enough for the car (i was carrying 4 other light passengers--all under 150lbs and using low A/C)

Meh, I don't like it, another cute ute, and the Mitsu badge certainly doesn't help. Not as bad as the X3 though.

Not just Suzuki......a number of small-mid-sized, car-based SUV's are adopting this method of styling, especially the triangular D-Pillars. You also see it in the Pontiac Vibe and new RAV4, though the Vibe is more of a car than an SUV.
