Default RX400h stolen... unbelievable

On Monday, I dropped off my 2007 Lexus RX400h (2,000-ish miles) for a body damage repair at a very reputable specialist (PRO contract with insurance). I spoke with them Thursday morning to check that all was on schedule for Friday PM pickup, and I was assured that all was fine.

Two hours later, I received a call from my rep, in full panic mode... my car is missing off their lot. The police were on the way, they had contacted their insurance, yada-yada.

These goofballs store the inactive vehicles in the fenced outdoor lot, keys inside and unlocked, with the gate open, no security cameras or personnel, totally relying on the eyes of the various in and out movements of their employees as "security".

Amazing negligence.

So if you Chicago/midwesterners see a flint mica/black interior on 18's, with bondo on the left rear quarter and an unpainted rear bumper...

Well, fat chance, anyway... probably chopped to pieces or loaded onto a truck for Mexico within an hour of theft in all probability.

Their insurance is gonna get me brand new, or there will be blood.

I dunno what's worse...... the fact it got stolen or the fact you already wrecked it at 2k miles!

X2, but he did say his RX has rear-damage so maybe it wasn't his fault. Hope everything works out for you.

We'll leave that unspoken at this point... don't wish to give them any ammo... if resolution is not satisfactory, the world will know, trust me.

Ammo? That makes no sense. Ammo against what? if the facts are as you say, they have nothing.

Bargaining in good faith requires not publicizing the opposition's error, IMHOP.

So you're basically lucked out - you got rid of the wrecked vehicle, with hugely depreciated value, and will get yourself a brand new one.

Your mouth to God's ears, we hope.

I'm thinking PITA damages for gross negligence, too.
