why would you even waste your energy explaining the details. It's like teaching an old dog new tricks.

performance wise.
E46M3 < E36M3? Go and drive both before making that statement.

Well M3s seem to be one of those cars with hardcore owners. E30 owners think the E36 is bland, E36 owners think the E46 is overweight, E46 owners think their M3 owns the other M3s...

To some its personal preference and newer cars today just cannot match the intimacy of older, lighter, less complex cars.

There's a greater emphasis on safety and comfort features as times go on. In addition, BMW does make a lightweight M3 version. It's called the M3 CSL

I highly doubt that the E36 trumps the E46 they are two totally different cars. Does anyone have any numbers to prove this because I have driven both and believe there was a big difference from road feel to acceleration.

Grassroots Motorsports took all three to the track sometimes ago and the results came out as expected.

E46M3>E36M3>E30M3.

I've driven all three and my conclusion is the same. E46M3 owners do not think their car owns the other M3s.. They KNOW for a fact that their car owns the other M3s.
