I was recently browsing ebay and thought what the heck i'll search for merecedes AMG, something that i'll never have but the C-class AMG has 349HP..
and the price for a used one 02-04 model was below 30k.. Are these good cars or do they have issues.. like always in the shop etc.. Seems like a good car for the money and power..
Any opinions..

Read the reviews on the C class. AMG or not, they do not treat you like a MB customer unless you at least drive an E, CLK class or higher.
Also, the C Class has the worst resale value in the lineup. They are not known for being reliable. Perhaps you should keep your GS!

As much as I love the ride, comfort, safety and prestige of Benz auto's, someone would have to pay me a monthly stipend to own one of them. You're gonna make at least 6 trips per year to the dealership for repairs plus regular maintenance visits. Depending on milage use, that's about 9 trips. Even with a loaner, that's time wasted. The drive there, the time in line to be seen, signing the work order, the trip back home. Then doing it over again to pick up the car after it's repaired. Oops, that doubles your visits. To top it off, they aren't as accomodating as Lexus service depts. No way, baby. Not for me!

C class are watered down, less crap to break down, so somewhat less of headache than the E or S.
But I know how you feel about the amg power

BTW, you don't get treated that better with an E or S

From what I see, about 1 out of 10 seems to be okay. Hopefully, you have the one that's okay....for a while. Just wait, that day is coming. I had a 95 C280. At first it was great. When it started having problems it was non-stop. I'm done with them but I hope yours continues to be great.

I just wonder how many of people who post here own or owned Mercedes ?
i had 2006 C-class sport sedan for 2 years , visited dealer twice for maintence .( once a year) end of storry .
I traded C for 2008 RX because i need a biger car right now .
car was well build and i like it alot .( more then rx)
I would buy another Benz but I want to try all cars
and if you get bad service because of ANYTHING , just go to another dealer.
they must service you same level as over customers .
mine was great .
Plus "road side" for life of the car .

Most of us own/have owned mb and other makers. That is why we are speaking out of experience more than just hearing it 2nd hand.
Granted that some mb (and other german makers) are crapshoots...as in for me, I've been lucky so far
It's usually the other way around. Some mb owners have never owned anything outside of an mb and bash on other brands without ever owning that brand
.
Plus with a 2006, which most of the bugs have been/should have been taken care of.
