2009 Lexus GS V10?

Just like they just squeezed a V8 in the IS, Lexus is planning to offer a V10 verion of the next GS model.
(Illustration above)
This 450hp car would compete with the M5.

Lexus is trying very hard to be taken seriously in Europe. I guess going after BMW might be one way to do it....
If Lexus is making a GS-F for their new F Division, they probably will have to make it a V10 . . . ugly illustration btw

Ugly photochop.

The V10 is possible. They've already created it; it's a matter of finding the market for it.

However, I doubt that Lexus will put it's racing LF-A engine on the "low end" GS. That's like Honda putting the NSX engine in an Accord...

I see elements of BMW M5 in this design (if this is indeed authentic)..Not bad looking at all imo. This should of been the 3rd Gen GS, and not the Glossy Maxima we have now.. The next GS needs to be shorter in length, and more muscular ala Audi A6, BMW 5..Bring back the rear fender bulge of the 2nd gen..

Actually, the latest rumour from Japan is that the rumoured GS-F could have a less powerful, detuned variant of the LF-A's powerplant. Certainly, I think a GS-F would need to be differentiated from the IS-F, and giving the GS-F the IS-F's engine won't be the way to do it.

That grill looks nasty.

I'd love to see a GS-F come out but I would be perfectly fine if it
came with the same high performance V8 on the IS-F. A V10
sounds like complete overkill for a street car...

I say keep the V10 exclusive to the LF-A.

A GS500 is only fit for a regular GS for the next redesign, not the F-division GS IMHO, if they're to make a GS-F.
Is the V10 for the M5/M6 an overkill ? Is a E63/CLS63 an overkill ?

AFAIK E63 is a V8 and it gets tons of performance with the hi
displacement. M5 is losing just about every comparo out there to
the E63, so I am not convinced adding more cylinders automatically
makes a better car.

They may have to add a hood bulge for the GS like they did on the IS
to fit a 5.0L. Hopefully they do a good job with the sheet metal.
To me it's all good. If they make a GS500 that's probably what I
would buy if I don't buy a GS460 or LS460 first...

I also think the V10 should be left exclusively for the GT-F/LF-A. The UR V8 should be able to put down the power that they need just fine.

Yes, but you're talking about the 5.0 V8 as is from the IS-F, not a bigger V8. But even a regular non-AMG V8 model is a E550 now. I would not be the least bit exited about a GS500 as an F-division car personally. Of course they can go the MB route instead of a V10. .
I won't worry about them fitting the engine into the car, they can find a way. I still tend to believe it more likely won't come until the next generation.

This GS-F will probably be in the ballpark of 75k. Are true driving purists willing to shell out that amount of cash on a Lexus GS?? Considering the history against the 5 series (550I v. GS450H) being the most recent, this car will have to prove itself against the big boys (BMW M5, Audi RS6, Jaguar R) before purists break the 70k plateau for a Lexus GS.

they can always detune the v10, like what audi did with its lambo engines stuck into their s8.
