Yes, but you're talking about the 5.0 V8 as is from the IS-F, not a bigger V8. But even a regular non-AMG V8 model is a E550 now. I would not be the least bit exited about a GS500 as an F-division car personally. Of course they can go the MB route instead of a V10. .
I won't worry about them fitting the engine into the car, they can find a way. I still tend to believe it more likely won't come until the next generation.
That's probably true. In a GS-F they will probably need to do something
more interesting than just the 5.0L since the car will be heavier than the
IS.
Audi has stated publicly that this is a well-repeated falsehood. The v10 in the S8 shares exactly ZERO parts with the Lambroghini unit.
Do you have a link to this 'statement' or any others from a reputable source?
Countless reputable sites including even Wikipedia state that the S8 uses a Lamborghini design V10 with the most obvious change being unique heads for the Audi...
Sorry buddy but they are related. The engine is detuned to not **** off Lamborghini...
I think it's more than just a "detune" right? Both engine shares the same stroke size but S8's V10's cylinder has larger bore, hence the 5.2L vs. Gallardo's 5.0L. The S8 also has higher compression ratio.
I will say they probably share the same block and some other components. I don't think it's a good business decision to develop two totally different engines that shares the same 'wow' factor (10 cylinder) under the same group/corporation.
