Default 2004+ Audi A8L any good?

Whats the reliability and quality of the 04+ audi a8L?? I really like the looks of the car and the options.What do you guys know about it?

the 4.2 is a good engine. Only bad thing is some early cars have issues with the trunk closer going bad and being replaced. Good deal of them coming off 2 year leases keep the price affordable and the three years will start coming off soon. I like the look better than the new style but can be converted to the new style with factory parts. I am looking into a d3 a8l or a d2 s8 as the prices are close. you can check out audiworld.com for some decent active forums on all audis.

i agree with the previous posters. very nice car, and as in another thread before this has stated, it has nice lines and proportional body size.

what would you guys think, if someone trades in their LS430 to an A8... would it be a downgrade, or a change among equals?

Well you can't really go wrong with either, unless you live in a frozen Tundra (then you might really want to go with the A8 with its Quattro and all). I'de consider them equals.

I'd lease one if the rate was good - I wouldn't own one though, especially outside the warranty.
