Ive always wondered though, what is really the hp output of the 1GZ. Uneducated internet fanboys always laugh and point saying ''a v12 with only 280hp..hahaha'' not knowing that before recently this was the highest horsepower figure that was diclosed due to the infamous 'gentleman's agreement'.
I would love to know what it really does out of the box. I think that figure is probably closer to 350hp-400hp (going with the torque figure of 350ft/lbs(which is good but it isnt that spectacular for a 5.0 V12, but its for a limo and is tuned as such).
If you've got some basic dimensions and information about the cam timing, compression, and such, you can model the engine with software. You'll have a really good idea what it does - maybe not to a gnat's behind, but definitely ballpark. You'll also be able to figure out what to do to get 1000 hp (or more) from it assuming the bottom end is strong enough to survive than kind of force.

Toyotas larger engines usually have stout bottom ends. Even the all aluminium V8s have steel cranks and 6 bold main bearing caps (the 1GZ has 4 bolt mains)

I'm guessing the engine actually does at least 320 - 330HP. Don't forget, the engine is tuned for extreme smoothness. It's more refined than the 3UZ-FE, and likely more refined than the 1UR-FSE.
The GZ interestingly enough has things like titanium coated valve lifter shims, a rarity on Toyota engines.
Plus, here is an excerpt from an old Century press release regarding the GZ:
"Intake systems components such as air cleaners, electronic throttles, and surge tanks, as well the sensors and control units necessary to operate fuel injectors and ignition, are located independently in both the right and left six-cylinder banks. This fail-safe system is equivalent in ability to that of an airplane, allowing for the engine to continue operating even if the vital electronic control system of one cylinder bank should break down."
It would seem to be that Toyota designed the GZ mainly for extreme refinement and unstoppable durability.
And you got to love the rumours about a totally new, redesigned Century coming, along with a new V12.
