Default RDX 0-60 in 6.3s.. Is this for real?

I did a search but did not come up with anything so hopefully this is not a repost.. if it is... mod please remove.

Just saw this on Road & Track. The tested RDX did 6.3s from 0-60mph and 14.8s in a 1/4mile. Slalom was 64.8mph..... DAMN.. those #'s are impressive for an SUV considering it weighted in @ 4110lb..

That is what one magazine did, lets post all 0-60 times, not just the fastest one

I've heard around 7s. I was quite surprise to see 6.3s posted by R&T. R&T noted they turned the traction off and power braking @ 3000 RPM before launch.

Isn't this the way people launch cars that have auto tranny to get the best time? I am curious to know if other mag tested the same way.

that's weird.

The auto Acura TL/CL-S does the 1/4th in low 15s, and it weighs ~3600lbs.

Either there is a miracle, or the RDX engine is underrated.

It sounds more than reasonable. The V6 RAV4 has acheived those numbers with a little more HP but less torque.

power braking...doesn't that screw up the transmission, like the torque converter and other assorted major components?

it'll heat up the fluid. Do it too long or too many times and the fluid will cook itself.

Then again, when people test for speed, they dont really baby the car who it wont matter.

All mags torque brake when testing automatic vehicles.

BTW, Edmunds got 6.8s 0-60 for the RDX. Bear in mind that Edmunds most of the time gets half a sec slower than the mags...

Having driven the RDX and locking horns with an RDX on the highway yesterday, no way it is in the 6s...I would give it 7s though. Quarter mile in the 15s ok, 14s no way.

As far as getting faster with the auto tranny, I know just about every way known to god and have done it with my RX300, even doing these methods will not drop you more than into the times that R&T mentions.
