Security experts have come up with a system that not only stops thieves from taking your car, but prevents them escaping, too.
US firm Fujitsu Ten has found a way to use expanding polystyrene foam to pin crooks to their seat. When the device detects movement, a small amount of a liquid chemical is released, which then expands to fill the car. Police can cut through the solid foam with a hot wire to reach an intruder. The crazy idea has been recognised by the US Patent Office, but has yet to win any customers.
