Stuttgart's highly profitable and extreme divisive SUV will not be making itself available during the 2007 model year. Porsche claims that the redesign, which debuts in Detroit and will be available in late 2007, is the major reason for the stoppage. However, the Cayenne's sales have been sliding south for close to two years and an overabundance of product may be giving the company pause.
An attempt was made earlier this year to entice would-be Cayenne owners with the so-called "Titanium Edition", which included many of the more popular options sought out by owners. This, along with the prerequisite metal trim, all came at a reduced price.
Judging by recent spy photos, don't expect a dramatic departure from the Cayenne's current slab-sided, Turbo-inspired looks when it does hit the road late next year.
Wasn't Porsche going to bring out a hybrid version of the Cayenne? It appears that there are some changes going on. With gas prices nowadays people aren't looking at SUV's as much...
The gas prices I know are taking a strike. I have a neighbor with one and he just cries at the pump. Anytime one sees something like this, it had to be some really big market research that made them say wait a minute.
It's not going away... it's just taking longer than expected to come out with the redesign. I wouldn't doubt that it comes in as a 2007.5... kinda like the Supra came out as a 93.5.
We still see them here in SoCal, but most are the Douchebag "S" models, not the Turbo. The Cayenne can be had at a reasonable price used as a lease turn-in... not too many NEW Cayennes running around anymore.
I have respect for the Turbo's power and handling (for an SUV, anyway), but I still think the Cayenne looks like a shoe. Adios.
I don't believe they are going away. There are too many of them on the road, someone must be buying them. Isn't the Cayenne, along with the Boxster credited with saving the company?
Good riddance. I think I may have seen 2 on the road since that thing came out. Has to be a money loser for Porsche.
actually the cayenne has been very profitable for porsche. it has allowed porsche to do R&D for their sports cars. without it, porsche would not be as well off as they are now. still i would rather porsche not make an SUV. but if means they can make better cars from its profits, its all good.

Yeah that and not a day goes by that I leave my house and not see at least 2 of them on the road.
Someone should re-title this. The Cayenne is being dropped for a year until late 2007 when the remodel comes out.
Around Boston I see 3 or 4 daily, mostly S's and a few Turbos.
This is selling like hot cakes in our area, definetly not being dropped.
