Thumbs up New Lincoln Flagship: 2008 MKS

Way to go Ford! Lookin VERY nice indeed. I absolutely love the interior on this car! So supulent and rich.

2008 Lincoln MKS to be company flagship Sedan

Lincoln MKS

The Lincoln MKS full-size flagship sedan will be based on the concept vehicle first shown at the North American International Auto Show in January.

“The Lincoln MKS will take Lincoln craftsmanship and comfort beyond anything we’ve built before,” Fields said. “Its design communicates power, motion and speed, and it will be packed with more technology and features than any Lincoln before it.”

One new technology on the Lincoln flagship comes straight from Ford racing and the Ford GT: a capless fuel filler. It eliminates the inconvenience of forgetting to put the gas cap back on after refueling and is better for the environment because no gas fumes escape.

“Capless fuel filling will make its way throughout our lineup going forward, and it’s the result of listening to customers,” Fields said. “We know even small innovations deliver big customer benefits.”

The Lincoln MKS will be the next major step in establishing Lincoln as America’s luxury brand. Lincoln is building momentum – with retail sales up 8 percent for the first half of 2006. The new Lincoln MKS flagship is designed to continue to introduce a new face of Lincoln to the American public, building on the hallmarks of design, a business class experience and a smooth, confident ride.

I like the back, but not the front. Overdone Grillz...

Otherwise, the car is well designed; distinctive without being bling; modern and clean.

Exterior...nice, but the grill is may too much ; Front spoiler is nice.
Interior...steering wheel ; looks like grandma's carpet on the dash ; Shift **** is too rectangular, can't feel good...should be more round

Can you say that without at least a test-drive?

I have no idea how this car will actually drive, but, wow, is Lincoln making some INTERIORS now. This, IMO, is what a luxury car should look like inside.

I agree. I want Lincoln to do well. I want their new large car to do well.

It's not healthy for one company to corner the market - they get complacent (See GM and increasingly Toyota) and product quality suffers.

no matter how nice the inside looks it will still have that "Ford" interior to me---i thought things were gonna change with Ford when the fusion and 500 came out, but we had a rental one day and it was the same thing as before

This is actually a nice looking car. My only critique is the grill. It looks like it is designed to slice bread.

The Lincoln brand has sooooooo much potential. The Navigator is a good looking SUV and
the Towncar is still the VIP chauffer car of choice. If they just designed something that looked
cool people would probably buy from this company. I don't there there are any really "bad"
things people associate with Lincoln.

Great looking car.

Looks like it is in the same size class as the Lexus GS-series.

Hopefully they do not dumb down the styling of the production version as much as they did with the MKZ(Zephyr).

Yeah - this doesn't look like premium-luxury full-size competition - but it does look like it'll make good midsize luxury competition and, if Lincoln prices the car accordingly, will make this car an attractive, American alternative to Japanese and German offerings along w/ the Cadillac STS.

I love having choices.

I hope they keep that dash material (or a synthetic version of it). It would loose a great deal without it.

Side note: How does sound quality of the THX systems in Lincoln's compare to the Mark Levinson used in Lexus?
