It seems odd, but I agree if your were to do 65 in the fast lane with traffic piling up behind you it would get you pulled over, but if you were in other lanes of the freeway cruising 65, you wouldnt necessarily be pulled over since your not in the fast lane.

So that brings up my next point, who coined the term "fast lane"? I know the left lane is for passing, but if everyone is doing the speed limit like we would when johnny is around, we really wouldnt have a need to define passing on the left. Even in conditions that determine speeds other than the speed limit, it is generally conditions and speed of traffic that cause a ticket to be given.

I give them a Thumbs up for what they were doing actually make that . Reason for congestion behind them was very simple. People are so used to going way over the speed limit that they were tailgating these people who were OBEYING THE LAW. They werent obstructing traffic, because they werent going below the speed limit, they were right on it, therefore no felony could be fined.
I personally dont understand y cars are given such a high speed ability if we arent even legally aloud to use it on the public roadway, such as highways, not innercity streets, or residential areas. If speeding were honestly a factor that's so dangerous, y not build a governer that communicates with speed signs into cars that way your car cant go over the limit? It would cut down on the costs of having police harassing people on the highways all the time, and would be more safe.

Okay people, what if they were going 60 would you all fell the same way? Blocking traffic from going to fast but yet still going fast. What would you all say about that? Just wondering.

No Im sorry but they are on the wrong.

Especially the one on the left lane, which is universally known to be made for passing slower traffic. I seen people get pulled over for not passing on the left lane here.

Seriously though Im surprised no one attempted to ram them out the way. I know if you do that here in phoenix. A truck would of gotten through by force. Even worse I can picture someone getting trough then brandishing a gun down here.

Me personally I would of been honking hte horn non stop signaling them to move. Given theyre the pansy type, they probably woudl of covered and moved out of the way.

Jewcano based on the car you drive Ill have to call you out, 100 bucks you dont practice what you preach.

If you did why get a car that is capable of going 150 mph, nearly 3 times the speed limit. Better yet why are you on a forum where the overwhelming amount of individuals here are interested in getting more performance?

Go sell your car, buy yourself some green friendly hybrid of sorts, and Dont you dare drive into the left lane since that lane is strictly for passing only! Stay on your right.

Now don't get me wrong,That REALLY would **** me off and most likley I would be one of the stupid people going around them on the shoulder, BUT I do see there point. I understand what they were tring to prove and it sounds like they did, people drive too damn fast.

True, car accidents could of been caused but its the samething as if someone doing 80 cuts off the grandma doing 55 and she freaks out and losses control and causes a serious accident. If they first guy had been doing the SPEED LIMIT, the accident would not of happaned.BTW this is a true story that happen on I-10.

Thats just my thoughts on it.

Drift has some good points here. Too many people DO drive too fast. The main problem is not the issue of a 55-MPH limit so much as that no matter where you set the limit, some people are never going to be satisfied...they are going to want to go " faster " just for the " thrill" of breaking the limit. In other words, it's " cool " for them to do this...to actually obey the limit or to otherwise drive sensibly is for " squares " and " wimps ".
In many cases, people THINK that they are driving in a safe manner when they are actually going too fast for conditions......I see this all the time on wet and slippery roads.

One of the things you have to learn while driving is paitience. It has kept me out of a LOT of trouble. That's one reason why my insurance rates are so low.

cal_alum98 did not get slammed. He's actually completely right.

Let's simply assume both pages 20 and 21 of the handbook are correct. These morons still violated the law by lining up and traveling at the same rate of speed, which is itself not even a reasonable movement of traffic. It's also a ticketable offense.

I think this idea is pretty cool. Its unbelievable how mad some people get when you go the speed limit.

Why are speed limits in place when you can go 5-10 mph over the speed limit. 50 is the new 45? Can i tell that to cops when they pull me over next time?

now you know exactly why we didn't occupy all lanes doing 65. when we occupied all lanes, the fast lane people (including ron and me) were going 80 catching up.

and btw, they did violate laws and could be ticketed. not for speed but blocking traffic. my friend when he first got his license he didn't know and kept on doing 65 on freeeway. a cop got behind, flashed, and pulled him over. questioned him and told him that if he's scared of driving faster, stay on the right lane. left lane is for PASSING, and what he did was dangerous and inconsiderate. he didn't ticket my friend coz' he just got his license and didn't know better.

so just because you are at speed limit, that doesn't mean you are right. yes if you go over 65mph (speed limit here), you are technically violating the law and you can get ticketed, but at least the chp i talked to (yup i do talk to them), they say as long as the flow of all traffic is norcal, and say all cars on fast lane are going 70 to 75mph, they are ok with it.

Bro, if you asked me that question "Jewcano based on the car you drive Ill have to call you out, 100 bucks you dont practice what you preach." a month ago, yes would have been right. But after getting both my tickets, i tend to keep the speed limit. So yes, if the limit says 45, i go 45, if the highway limit is 65 i go 65. Also im not a conservatist, i like my V8

Ummm... quoting from text is a stupid argument? Sorry, try again.

I know you can and will get a ticket for doing this. My great grandfather (rest his soul) got one for doing 55mph in the fast lane (back when 55mph was the speed limit). The officer told him that he was obstructing traffic.

Normal and reasonable movement of traffic would technically be covered by the Basic Speed Law, not the posted speed limits.

To the letter of the law the passing (Left) lane is used to pass slower moving traffic without exceeding the maximum posted speed limit. IN our state, the freeways have a posted maxumim speed limit, but also you see a minimum speed limit. For example, the speed limit is 50MPH and the minimum is 40MPH (Yes, I know we have some really slow freeway speed limis at certain places). The passing lane in this case is so pass those cars going slower than you, but over the minimum speed, then you supposed to move out of the passing lane. However, I think these rules were made up way back when traffic wasn't so heavy. Nowdays, you have to pass slow moving traffic on the left and right, or wherever there is an opening to do so.

As for the video, I think that was done last year or or early this year. I remember ABS did a story on them a while back. I too would be pissed. If they wanted to proove a point they should have staggard themselves. That way they would allow people to pass, but they could show on video how wreckless some people pass other slower moving cars. That would have been a much better point to make.
