Merged Sirius Satellite Radio Threads
I went through 3 Sirius units and 4 wiring harnesses, and never did get one to work one my IS 350. I had to hit the channel switch 20 or 30 times to get it to change. I had a harness with short cables, a different receiver, you name it. I finally gave up and went XM and it worked the first time. I still would like to go back to Sirius because I've been with them for a couple of years, but not until they have a unit that works with the IS 350. It looks like a digital timing problem between the main receiver and the Sirius unit. Very flakey........ wish I had better news.
i guess youre going to be SOL. even the xm radio doesnt show a full display unless you get the nav. havent you been reading these forums? ive been warning people to stay away from lexus if sirius is a must have.
I spoke to someone at P.I.E http://www.pie.net/ and she said they are already working on an interface for the 2IS. It may be available in a couple of months. This interface will allow you to connect any aftermarket satellite receiver straight to the radio. No more FM modulators. The display would probably fit in the ashtray or wherever you prefer. Sorry if this has already been covered.
I am surprised with the fact that lexus-parts.com units don't work for a lot of people.
Other than the 10 char limit my unit works perfectly and I couldn't be happier with it.
May be we need to start a poll to find out the percentage of people with problems. This way more people would be comfortable to try it.
Because from the way this thread is going it leaves the impression that there is no good solution if you want Sirius. I think if you haven't got sirius yet you should try the lexus-parts unit.
I am also a little bit pissed at Lexus as well that we have to go through all this trouble to get the option that was promised at the dealer and was featured in all brochures!

I have to say that I am more than a little bent about this too. Before I purchased my car 4 weeks ago I was promised that Sirius was available, as well as XM. My how that tune changed AFTER my purchase.
If someone decides to go the class action route, this is the lawfirm that settled the Motorola V710 case for Verizon Wireless customers.

I'm interested in a class action as well, and being in california I live near el segundo... How much does something like this cost and what would be considered our "compensatioN". Would this involve just those who paid for it in a lease or purchase or for everyone since it was printed in the brochure.
I know that this is old news at this point, but I wanted to post a response that I got from Sirius this morning responding to my latest email inquiry. Looks like they're now officially announcing that they're pulling Sirius from their line.

Sounds like a phone call to that law firm is in order. At least we could get their take on this. I'll say it again, I would never have bought this car had I known that I couldn't get Sirius and the fact that they have my money and don't keep me updated or offer a solution is inexcusable for a company that has over $40k of my dollars.
My wife had been thinking about trading in on a Lexus, but now I think we will look elsewhere.
One more thing...I think Vais is almost done with the testing of their Sirius + Aux unit. It is called the SLS and I really hope it works...

I too would welcome discussions of a class action in this regard. The IS was clearly advertised as being Sirius-capable, and this was repeated publicly many times at the NY Auto Show I attended this year and last.
Should anyone initiate discussions with the El Segundo law firm, please keep this thread informed of the results. Thanks!

Has anyone bought/installed the Vaistech SLS kit? I was browsing the site (thanks Jkeys for the link), and saw that it works with our car (according to the application guide). Besides the kit, you have to buy a SAT unit (3 are listed on the website). It's supposed to support 16 characters of text!
On a side note, can this unit be mounted in the trunk like the other unit, or does it have to be somewhere behind the NAV? Anyone know?
I'm really hesitant about removing the NAV unit on my own. Also, would the lexus dealer install it so it doesn't void my warranty?

The law firm will take the case for free and when they settle with Lexus they will take their cut. The remedy should be a sirius fix, compensations, and bit of cash.
Lexus gave away ipods once for another issue they better man up for this.

This is Lexus response to an email I sent them yesterday in regards to Sirius
Thank you for contacting Lexus Customer Satisfaction. We are dedicated to providing superior service. In circumstances that require our attention, we will assist in the resolution process.
I apologize that the Sirius Radio is not available at this time. After introducing Sirius Radio, we received feedback from some customers that the product wasn’t operating to their expectations. It was appropriate to re-evaluate the Sirius Radio product to ensure it continues to meet quality standards.
As part of our commitment to provide the best products and services, Lexus releases a product when we are confident it meets standards of excellence. We acknowledge a good segment of our customers are interested in Sirius Radio and are aggressively pursuing it to be a part of our accessory line up. Please keep in contact with your Lexus dealer regarding the availability of Sirius Radio for your Lexus vehicle.
I say we just keep emailing them until this issue is resolved. I'm sure with the people that are on the payroll at Lexus that this wouldn't be that hard to figure out if they really wanted to.
