The LS400 is the car that made Lexus the company it is today.

I think all classics have an emotional appeal to them. That's why the SC gets my vote over the LS.

And I also own one.

What were they trying to do, rebadging a camry with that....name...what the heck is a lexus anyway...was the response I kept hearing. Then came the ls400. All of a sudden it was the car to have. If you had one you were daring, on the cutting edge, open to challenges, a leader, smart, etc. Oh, and you were perceived as having money. The ls started it all. A clean, shiny first gen ls is more desirable than most other luxo barges out there imo. Yes, it started it all.

Then came the SC....took it to another level. A level that may not ever wane.

LS 400 and SC 400 are true classics. The GS 300 is very rare, and nears classic status as well.

The one that started it all, bullet-proof reliability, elegance and class that is timeless...

The one that turned heads (still today), and showed the world what a luxury sports coupe was all about...

The sporty sedan from the new luxury leader...with Italian pedigree...

I would love to drive any one of these...if only there were a 'vintage' Lexus dealer offering these vehicles in pristine, new condition...

Also I'd wager that the original, non-NAVI Lexus interiors are truly classic. They are the benchmarks.

classic? I don't think any current or previous models will become classic anytime soon. But If I have to pick one, I would have to vote for the current SC. Previous SC look dull and boring.

None of the lexus seems to be classic, with an exception to the 1st gen LS series. It doesn't look that bad, yet runs smoother than a lot of newers cars. Kind of boring though

It will have to be the only Lexus model to win MotorTrend Import Car of the Year. That would have to be the 2nd Gen. GS4. No other Lexus has accomplished that feat.

Isn't the first mustang considered a classic? It sold a jillion copies. Obviously there are different levels of being considered a classic.
The corvair didn't sell as much and no one considers it a classic. Nor the......now I forgot....that 2 seat pontiac that looked cool but would catch on fire. Definitely not classics.

Now I remember...the Fiero. Didn't sell many copies but looked cool to me. Several of them blew up in smoke. Definitely not classic.

The LS400 was built first. The ES250 was used so Lexus could have a more complete line of vehicles than just the one large sedan.

Do the 10 best lists count for anything? The LS 400 and SC and GS (I believe) were on those...

Looks like the SC is in the lead in this poll by a mile. The first gen SC is a timeless design, gotta love it. But, there are like a lot of SC members on the forums and a good perecent voted in this poll. Come on GS crew. No hanging chads here VOTE!

The 90's Coupe was destined to be a classic, which is the way it turned out to be. It became an instant classic - no other 2-door coupe from its era had this much appeal. It was truly sad to see its shape and evolution change so dramatically when the hardtop convertible was introduced. .....it gets my vote, biased or not....

IMO, there is nothing dull or bland about it. I will never ever trade my coupe for anything. I see nothing but sexy sleekness and elegance in this pic:
