Porsche 997TT Specs & Tests ( UPDATE - WCF Test Drive )
From the factory:
-473hp, 457ft/lbs. of torque. *(502ft/lbs. of torque offered for "10 seconds" during a special "overboost mode of 20.9psi").
-$130,000 US
-Uses new "VTG" turbines, which offer variable vane angles to decrease lag and spool up times.
-Next generation AWD with full torque distribution to each individual wheel as needed.
-90lbs. lighter than 996 Turbo via aluminum replacing steel at various points, including both doors.
-GT2 variant not expected for 24 more months, but planned. "S" version planned also, no timeframe given.
-DSG semi-auto transmission will not be offered initially, now called "PDK" in Porsche-speak. Planned for introduction within first two years of production.
-Refined PASM suspension offers softer ride than 996 Turbo, while firming faster under track conditions.
-Nurburgring time is "7:49", which is seven seconds faster than the 996 Turbo, and three seconds slower than the 996GT2.
-Look for the "March" issues of the major car mags for first-drive reports, with instrumented test results following later this year

Not really liking the the GTR prototypes I' ve seen so far . . . nor do I like the LF-A concept . . .

Wait till the TT-S comes out...that will be a beast and don't even get me started on the GT2! Oh dear, I think I just soiled my pants thinking of that car. I'm really pleased that Porsche didn't go heavier but concentrated on power-to-weight ratio. The real test is when the magazines get their hands on this beast...I think it can be safe to say that the Z06 has had it's thunder stolen. However, I can't discredit the cost-to-performance that the Z06 offers. Either way, it's a good time to be alive. What will be interesting is to see the new Audi R8 (i.e. Lemans concept car) w/ the Gallardo V8 thrown in it pushing over 500 ponies from the start. Ah, another few years after they put PDK into the Turbo, and I'll have to wonder down to the P store.
