When you throw down on the Caddy land-yacht, I'll shoot over my Grandpa's number so you can roll together. Team Viagra!
This idea that younger people can't drive Caddys is a bunch of nonsense. Tell that to Elvis Presley....the King of 50's Rock and one of the " coolest " singers ever. He loved Caddys....lived, breathed, ate, and slept them. He had perhaps the most famous Cadillac ever built....the pink '59 convertible. In fact, being Mr. Moneybags, he used to give Caddys away as presents to the special people in his life.
However, MadMax is correct that 90's vintage Caddys were unreliable....and a long way from the world-class standards of 50's and 60's vintage Caddys.
I would not pick either of those two cars - they are opposite ends of the spectrum.
If you want a daily driver, just get a high mileage Lexus with a V8. You won't be faced with reliability issues and most have decent power.

I really like the CTS-V. Now that is one hot Caddy that handles like some of the best European sedans.
There is one episode of Top Gear in which Jeremy races against an Audi A8 (driven by the Stig), and the Caddy literally smokes the Audi both in corners and ofcourse in a straight line. And the Audi has AWD to boot!

Yes...the V-series Caddys ( there is now an STS-V also ) do appeal to a different class of drivers than traditional Caddys, but I've known young people who also liked smooth, quiet, traditional Caddys too...as I myself did. You don't have to be 90 years old to appreciate comfort in a car.
Well our buddy has two choices here. Hey the new GTO shares the same power plant as the Cadillac CTS-V. The 04 CTS-V has the Vette Z06 motor minus 5 horses. The 05-06 CTS-V has the new LS2 engine like the 05-06 GTO. Get the GTO If you get the 04 Gto, your getting the Vette LS1 with the 350 horse powerplant.

The '04 GTO was also not as good-looking as the '05. It did not have the '05's twin scoops like it SHOULD have had right from the start......like the original GTO's did 40 years ago.
mmarshall - Sure, young(er) folks can buy a Cadillac. They can buy anything they want as a matter of fact. However, the Caddy's demographics emphatically show that young(er) folks are choosing NOT to buy Caddys. It's an old(er) person's car. Argue what you want, but the facts don't support your feel good Elvis argument.

P.S. Elvis owned lots of cars.
I never quoted any numbers. I only said that people don't have to be locked into stereotypes, that's all....and that no one, whatever his / her age, should feel that they they should or should not buy anything simply based on what "others" are doing, that's all.
And Elvis DID drive mostly Cadllacs....that is a fact.
Goldark - Enjoy your new Corvette powered stealth / sleeper.
mmarshall - From your last post, it sounds like you and I agree that the pervasive public opinion on Caddys is that old(er) people drive them. It is what it is. More old(er) people drive them than younger folks. Yes, that even includes my grandfather who fits the "old(er)" demographic. IMHO, if you or I drove a Caddy (even the hot rod V series), I'd wager a fair sum that we'd have to constantly explain our choice to nearly everyone. As a matter of fact, in the not so distant past, I wanted a V8 Olds Aurora and got tired of explaining my rationale (V8 intoxication with semi-lux at a great price) to everyone. In the same vein...
[Snickering] Why did you get a Caddy? it's incredibly fast.
But it's still a Caddy. Yes, but it's been tuned on one of the most famous race tracks in the world.
Old(er) people drive Caddys. This isn't your father's Oldsmobile err Caddy.
How long until that got old?! Get one if you like, but that choice comes with a lot of baggage. It's going to be a long time before Caddy (if ever) can change this paradigm.
P.S. What's with all the Elvis tivia? You live at Graceland? Elvis is for old(er) people. Just kidding.
Modern Caddy's are more reliable than ever....but not this one from 10 years ago. You'll be repairing it more than driving it. Gotta love Caddy's though.
