Awesome pics and video!!! Seems to have been a pretty respectible Probe too!! 11.41 1/4 mi.

Here is the proof though of the GLARING difference between a domestic stock block on high boost and a Toyota stock block on boost. This guy's engine shattered like Glass Joe's chin in "Punch-Out", splintering connecting rods, exploding pistons, shooting wrist pins through pistons, etc., all at 25 lbs of boost. Our very own QuikTurbo blew his motor where the only glaring problem were BENT connecting rods. He was running at 38+lbs of boost I believe and he ran 9.5x in the qtr.

The Ford Probe uses a Mazda V6 - not a domestic engine at all. The fact that these engines have crappy connecting rods has not so much to do with the continent they were manufactured but more with the intended use. Our 'Yota powerplants are anomalies in that they can take rediculous beatings and stay alive. The old Turbo Dodge 4 cylinders were tough too (well some years sucked and the head gaskets were always a weak link). I love the 1000hp Toyota turbo motor in the Pikes Peak Tacoma - 4-cylinders of total mayhem!!!

Wow that is the most messed up Probe engine I have ever seen lol. Usually Probes and MX6's can handle a decent amount of boost... I had an mx6 a few years ago and still go on probetalk a lot... there are some decently fast turboed probes

No its a 2.5L V6, very good engines actually. I have experience boosting one. Actually the Noble M12 supercars used the same(essentially) 2.5L V6 with twin turbo's. They moved to 2.7L V6's and then 3.0L V6's eventually.

The Mazda MX3 precidia's used the same engine, but with a much smaller bore I believe to make a 1.8L V6.

*Edit* Sorry yes it is the same engine as in the MX6. The Ford probe was always the same car underneath as the mazda MX6, that is why it is one of the only fords I would ever consider buying. lol

dude memories.. those engines are actually quite nice for the money, they also import the jdm model which produces a nice amount of hp compared to the usdm one, mainly b/c it doesn't have an EGR system.. and yes the mx-3 came with a version of it, at the time <and I dunno if still> the smallest v6 in the industry.. coolest part, both engines use pretty much the same mounting points, so it's fairly easy to swap the 2.5 v6 in those freaky tiny mx-3s and you get yourself a monster.. BUT still my fav was the 4cyl 2.2 turbo from 89-92, making that model faster than the 2.5 v6

Fastest 2nd gen probe/mx6 (11.410@127.10mph). Black puff @ the line is just unburnt fuel.

Someone from our old local "probe club" had an mx6 built to run a 13.5 quarter mile ALL MOTOR. He would have shattered that record if he would have turboed it... but someone pulled in front of him, and he crashed... totalled the car

My first "sporty" car was an 88 (I think), Probe GT. It had the turbo'd Mazda 4-cylinder. I wanna say it was a 2.2L but am not positive (was about 10 years ago). Car ran very good for me and was a fun drive. Only down side was because of where the turbo was at under the hood, it had to be removed for almost any kind of maintenance adding about 3 hours labor to any job. Still was fun though
