be glad in 2-3 years when this debate is a fart in the wind. People saying a infiniti has a better resale value, has never been to a auto auction. 2003 g35 coupes for 17-19k all day. talk bout value. q45..come on...look at the pics above..that shows the way a company is preceived.

 

Honest question - where are you finding '03 coupes for 17k not salvaged? The Autotrader average for the country is ~$27,000, the cheapest in the U.S is $24,850 in Indiana. KBB just gave the G35 coupe the best resale in it's class, well, you see where I am going. I am not saying it's not possible I'd just like to know where you're seeing these 17k G35s, because frankly I would like to buy them and re-sell them.

 

I'm not saying this is the case here, but some nice cars are re-sold at relatively cheap prices....sometimes at auctions.......by the police and the DEA after being impounded for drug or other offenses. This is perfectly legal and has been upheld by the courts.....but needless to say, they can be risky buys. I, for one, would not want a car even in perfect condition that might still have some drug residue in it.....for obvious reasons.

 

auto auctions, dealer only auctions. These cars are dirt cheap with higher than average miles. This is the case on a few g35's I have seen. One in particualr was a white model/ fully loaded with additional upgrades. It was selling for 17.8k.

 

I know someone who got a IS300 for 9k at a Auction in perfect condition. And in the Yellow color at that.

So Auctions don't tell prices.

 

Auctions don't really show the history of the vehicle either. The car may look like in great shape, but it may be a total lemon.

 

Well, I looked at it and it was never wrecked. But it had 160k of miles. So the reason why it was auctioned I am sure. Runs like a champ though.

Ya, I guess the point is you can find these cars for very attractive prices, but it's rare. $9k IS300's and 17k G35 coupes definitely aren't all over the place. Autotraders average price for '03 G35 coupes is $25,480. I'm sure it's well over 20k for '03 IS's, too.

I was talking the average across the U.S. That's what I go by - it might not be the best indicator but I don't know of a better one. Ya, there are of course weird cases of certain cars priced a couple grand less than the average... here are the '03 IS300 stats.

So well over 20k for the average. Actually considering the IS300 is an "older" model it has a remarkably high re-sale.

I don't understand this arguement. Lexus has always had stellar re-sale. We are comparing Lexus, a brand to a company that has 1 maybe 2 cars in recent history to have decent resale.

This comparison is not fair to Infiniti. Its going to take time for them to establish themselves.
