Default 2007 Acura CRX ?

2007 Honda CRX

Yes you are reading this correctly, 2007 CRX. For the last few years speculation on the return of this beloved car has been circulating on the web. The last we heard 6 months ago was that a "surprise car" would be released in fall 06 and it wasn't the new Si or Fit. When we heard nothing else since then we automatically assumed the information was false. Now AutoWeek has just announced that the CRX will make a return but not until the 2007 model year. Was our original information valid and the vehicle has just been pushed back? Who knows. If indeed the latest article from AutoWeek is accurate it appears that the CRX will be equipped with the 06 Si Coupe engine which would make it one heck of a "pocket rocket". The big question however is will the engine alone sell the car?

Design and drivetrain will probably be the focus for most people but we feel the way the car is packaged and priced will even be more important. Just take a look at the 02-05 Si for example. Granted there were 20-40 year olds able to afford a $20,000 Civic but what about the buyers on a budget that still wanted a quick car but didn't want or need the extra frills? What we're saying is make the CRX in more than just one trim level but equip them all with the same powertrain.

Can you imagine the sales potential and appeal of an entry level, $15,000 or less CRX with nearly 200hp?

Will Honda even make a CRX that you will be able to buy for under $20,000?

Will we even see the 2007 CRX after all?

Hopefully we'll see it at Detroit early next year.

Yes....I have seen a couple of rumors of an upcoming CRX, too.....but it is unclear whether it will be a small 2-seater like the last one was. Let's hope.

I've seen so many photochops of a possible CRX... they're all fake though

I'm probably crazy for saying this, but I would totally buy a (non-riced) CRX and restore it...

Hopefully, it'll look more CRX'esque and less DEL SOL'esque.

Yeah...you got that right. The Del Sol was clearly a mistake. While offering top-off fun, was nevertheless full of squeaks, rattles, air and water leaks, and body flex. When that car was introduced in 1992, Honda had virtually no experience with that type of car....and it showed.
Fortunately, the mistakes in that car were not repeated in the later S2000 convertible.
