Gas Mileage Tips
ok since gas prices are hitting all time highs....What are some good things to do to increase gas mileage?
1.) Change/Clean Air Filter
2.) Type of Gas
3.) Spark Plugs
4.) Oil Change
Whatelse?

Replace o2 sensors.
Clean the entire upper intake by hand.
Clean the heads/combustion chambers by using seafoam and, or water injection. (Warm the engine up driving around the block - 20oz of water in a spray bottle works great & is free). *MUST* be done after the AFM / MAF)
Use seafoam in the crankcase to clean the innards. (Add to fresh oil, drive the normal period. NO SHORT CHANGING)
Add 2.5oz - 3.5oz of 90-100% Acetone to every 10 gallons in the gas tank. (18.5 gallon tanks for 92+)
Fashion a larger underbody shield for improved aerodynamics. (Only really helps at high speed/highway cruising)
Lean the A/F mixture.
Advance ignition timing.
The torque convertor locks up in 3rd & O/D... Let off the gas so it downshifts into O/D as early as possible, and let off the gas as soon as you reach the desired speed. This way the TC locks up as early as possible.
Stay off the gas at all costs.
Buy my old worn to hell civic. Still get's 40-45mpg.

Don't drive. Zero gas used, zero miles added.
The only thing that saves me gas is to get the car in the final gear and the in-town blows that...the So. Cal FWYs are not conductive to this anyway as they slug along at 15 MPH.
On my last run, to the Bay area I noticed that my FWY miles dropped to 26 MPG where it had been at 28. (Both with the A/C on) Got home, the air filter was pretty dirty and had a fair share of bees stuck in the pleats.

marshall's gas tips are good. I recommend you read it. I got some good ideas for my next trip.
Gas consumption is the highest during the work week, especially when you're stuck in traffic.
If you're very serious about cutting back on gas consumption, try out public transportation, join a van/car pool, telecommute or move more closer to your place of work.
