That is true, nobody is perfect! And we are certainly not trying to place blame. I just wanted to clear things up by stating the facts, and let him know that he is a valued customer and we are willing to go out of our way to help him out as much as posible.

Fair enough, and quite respectable of a rep to come out here and help this situation along.

Travis:

It's awesome to see you aboard and speaking up for CM.

I have just received the clutch by the dealer and this unit does seem to be the correct one this time. How the wrong part number was ordered, who knows. I appreciate you guys covering the tab for the freight although it seems it took this thread to get that done since there was a hefty COD charge on the package. Squeaky wheel I suppose, eh?

Unfortunately it's too late for me to install this tonight but I will give a full report tomorrow night or Thursday on the unit. I'm expecting all will go well as I hear the Kevlar units are good stuff.

I am glad to help! I would hate to see a disatisfied customer over an issue like this, and taking care of the hefty COD shipping charge is well worth it to us to keep our customers happy.

Enjoy your clutch and let me know if you have any questions.

They screwed up, they were willing to ship another one out back to you right away.... not next day air or whatever... but willing to ship another one out to you. Well, they don't know your situation of how urgently needed this clutch is right? So technically, it is not their problem. They were willing to solve the issue, but you needed it now now now. I'm not defending them and I think they could have met you halfway.

Now if CM did NOT want to even exchange your clutch at all, then I can really see a problem with them.

I can;t agree with you. You may it sound like CM is great b/c they were willing to ship one out to him. Of course they should be willing, it was their SCREW-UP. He paid for a product and due to CM's negligence and idiocy, the customer suffers. They not only should have issued several apologies but should have shipped new product ASAP - no questions asked.

Jose....glad to see you got the situation resolved......
i remember back in my old 5 spd days having a dual diaphram CM kit in the sc and it exploded on me at the track.....guess it didnt like 19psi and a welded diff...luckly the sc is a well made car and none of the flying metal made it in the car.....<guess i should have had a scatter shield... >

im anxious to see this new clutch in...and if you need another ride home just hit me up....

That's not how returns work on products like these that are ordered and sent wrong. I've been through the process several times, and aside from issuing RMA #'s and such, its too much of a liability for a company to immediately ship out a new product without proof that the incorrect product WILL be returned to them. Then it takes some time to process the new orders, these companies operate on LARGE scales and have several OTHER issues to worry about throughout the course of their daily operations. IMO, CM did what they do according to their company policy regarding incorrect parts sent out. The fact that Jose had an urgent situation really should be of no consequence to CM, but out of their customer service/satisfaction department they tried to do what they could to help him out. Granted the whole situation could have been avoided, it's hard to place full blame on anyone in this situation.

Thanks, I couldn't have said it better for the most part. I would like to clarify that our company, athough maybe opporating on a large scale, is still small enough and contained enough to enable us to focus on customer service. Also, we do try to do our best to rush product out to customers who are in need of quick delivery (unfortunately somtimes part numbers do get mixed up, the wrong product does get sent, or any number of other things could happen).

Anyway, I am glad that I came across this forum. I will be checking back here often, so if any one has any questions or concerns feel free to email me, pm me, or start a thread where I can answer questions.

Default Update

Got the clutch installed last night with no hassles.

So far it feels so stock you can't even tell there's an aftermarket clutch installed. Very nice, that's exactly what I wanted.

Hey Travis: Regarding break-in, the documentation stated 500 miles. Are there any particular things I should do special with a kevlar disc? I've read they require significant break-in so if you have any pointers as to how to drive this thing during break-in, I'd appreciate it. Normal driving? Slow driving? Full boost, low boost, no boost? Etc, etc. Is it at full torque capacity yet or is that only after break-in?

Thanks!

Normal city driving, no hard lounches, no extented slipping, nothing that will heat the disc too mutch. Once you get closer to the 500 mile point you can start putting it through some abuse and adding full boost, but them you want to give the disc a chance to cool a little by holding the clutch in for a bit while coasting.

If the kevlar material is broke in fully, it will be bulletproof and last a long time

I know it sucks to have to drive like a grandma for 500 miles, but it will be worth it!

Thanks, man.

So final power tune of the AEM has to wait until after break-in as it will slip on the dyno prior to that, correct?

UPDATE:

Clutch failed in less than 10,000 miles and after the 90-day warranty.

I called CM and they said to return it so they could have a look at it. After inspection they agreed the pressure plate was faulty and they sent me a new one with my old disc. All was free of charge and I'm impressed they did that even tho the warranty was expired. Very cool of them.

I'm currently running a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch which I am very happy with. It has a lighter pedal and doesn't chatter like the CM. Lsflame strongly recommended it to me and he was right. It's a great unit that holds back respectable NA-T torque while being very OEM in feel. Plus it's half the price of the CM FX300. So we'll see how long it lasts. Even if it's only two years, I'll put another one in. I like it that much so far.
