Another clutch thread; the exedy kty-17
Hey everyone, I searched all over these forums and found quite a few clutch related threads but I have a little different scenario. The clutch started slipping on my 2003 is300 a few months ago so I ordered the exedy Kty-17 clutch kit and just babied it until I had time to drop the trans. I finally had an open weekend 2 weeks ago and I pulled the car apart, and was told to try to move the flywheel by hand to check the condition of the internal springs. It moved with very little effort, so I was told that it would need to be replaced. I called the place I ordered the clutch from (grip force) and they said told me to get the fidanza flywheel #130301 and I would be good to go since they sell that in a kit with the same clutch I ordered. After opening the boxes I realized that the exedy clutch has a solid hub for the stock dual mass flywheel. I went back to grip force and they said that exedy doesn't sell them with a sprung disk anymore and I would be fine with what I have. Since I ordered the clutch a while ago they won't let me return it, but I can still return the flywheel. What's your guys' input? This is my daily and I really don't want to break stuff because of this.
