Overall I am still not too impressed with the next S class, but those pictures of the designo interior with the piano black trim are simply stunning. I hope Lexus offers a similar variety of interior choices with the next LS.

Ah, brings up memories of our last-last gen S-class....like all the choices on the new S-class, if not the design.

Thumbs down No LS?

Notice how on page 4, they compare BMW, Audi, Jag and Benz. Why no mention of Lexus???

Nevermind...that's right....Mercedes STILL does not consider the LS430 a competitor despite the fact that it has stolen away a large share of the S-Class' market.

Shame on Mercedes for ommitting the all powerful LS from it's comparison!!

Then again, if they were so far ahead of the LS in every way, they COULD have used this as a powerful opportunity to prove just how far down the food chain the LS was. But they didn't, which makes me feel very comfortable the Benz KNOWS the LS blows the doors off the S-Class.

Its probably not included because the base price of the cars of the competitors they mentioned are around 70k. The LS still starts out at 56k and only maxes out at 70k which most people dont buy.. Thats my guess. When the next gen LS comes out with the bigger wheel base, maybe then it will be considered real competition

BTW, the S class looks really good

^^^
According to an autospies report (yeah, I know not very reliable), the new S-class was showcased internally with a BMW 7-series and a Lexus LS 430 for comparison. So, M-B does fully well consider the Lexus a contender...and its omission speaks volumes...
