I don't like either of them, but I voted for CLS500. I would consider other mid-luxury sports sedans instead. My first choice would be BMW 545i(or 535i if there will be one), then Infiniti M45, then Acura RL, and Lexus GS430. If my parents want to trade in their Acura CL in the future, I would ask them to choose one of these four.

Your suggestions are?
Coupe meaning 2 doors, right?...............I won't list any 4-doors.

....Infiniti G35 Coupe, Lexus SC430 (if you can tolerate its dorky looks), Corvette hardtop ( if you can take its firm ride), Volvo C70,

The Ford Mustang GT and Thunderbird, IMO are both beautiful cars to look, reasonably priced, at but with questionable build quality. The GTO has enormous HP and torque for the buck...but also questionable build quality. The Monte Carlo SS...ditto....reasonably-priced but with questionable build quality.

The main reason, though, I don't think new M-B or BMW products are worth the money is that they are BOTH expensive AND unreliable...unlike the cars I have just mentioned.

I'm withholding judgement on the new BMW 3-series, however....a crucially important car for a lot of people.......until I see and drive the car myself.

Corvette hardtop
[ Been there, done that. No thanks
Volvo C70
Had one a few years back.. they ended up buying it back
Ford Mustang GT
Please....
Thunderbird,
double please.. I will NEVER own that ugly thunderturd. Also, if you are over 6', good luck
GTO & Monte Carlo SS
er um.. not happening

The local BMW dealer has a most excellent reputation. Reading the boards, the 6 hasn't had too many issues. A few software issues and some SMG, most seem to have been resolved quite some time ago.

I'm looking for a premium sports coupe... IMHO, the BMW 6 hits the nail on the head..
OK...good luck. Buy one. I only posted some suggestions you asked for. You are free to spend your money any way you like. Frankly, I would not buy those Ford or GM products myself....but until we discussed it, I had no idea what YOU would like or dislike....the subject of this thread, not MY likes or dislikes.
If you can afford a new 6-series...and don't think it is a waste of money......put one in your driveway.
