Default Bangle 5-series Thread

Its amazing how I noticed we used to talk tons on the old 5 series and how much almost everyone loved it but the new one, there is hardly any talk about it. I rarely see one with any aftermarket items at all. The funny thing is its selling well but maybe its to people new to BMW.

I am trying so hard to like this car but outside the image of it, its just awful to me. So sad.

Maybe the facelift coming, like the one of the new 7 will help.

Yea it's a shame that is had to turn out the way it is. Why couldn't they just stay traditional with their older style?

i actually really like the new 5.

BMW took a bold step in Bangling all their cars, and lost a few loyal customers--but they've gained a lot more new customers to more than make up for the loss of the loyal ones..

i actually like the new Bangled BMWs...the "refined" Bangle 7 looks even better.
a friend of mine...her mother got the 530i--and i must say. i really love it. it's been bashed over and over again my motoring critics over and over again because "the perfect car" was ruined with the horrid new style....but i think it looks better than ever.

I like the new 5 Series. I think the drastic design direction turned many people off. However, I think the next gen will be a very nice refined evolution of the current one.

some modded e60's.

The last BMW 5 series was almost the perfect mid size luxury sport sedan inside, outside, and performance wise. Only problem was the sub par reliability and being very expensive to maintain and fix. If I had not heard so many horror stories of expensive reliability issues with the last 5 series I probrably would not have made up my mind to get a used GS300.

I was very dissapointed in the new 5 series exterior and especially inside when I first saw it but I am still trying to like it. The exterior is not too bad but the interior is horrible. I sat in the new v8 5 series and my friend and I thought it was a base stripper model because it was so plain with very few buttons and switches and a cheap looking and feeling interior. It is definitely one of the worst interior designs in the mid priced sport sedan market with the STS being the worst and cheapest looking in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with buttons and switches and they are much easier to use and better looking then getting rid of them for a annoying mouse and screen for a car. I like the new 7 series and even the interior has a sort of high end art deco look and feeling almost like an expensive desk or household furniture. There are enough luxury touches, buttons, wood, etc to still look and feel like the new 7 series is a high end car even if the i-drive is a pain to use. The new 3 series exterior looks pretty good but the interior is horrible again. The last interior was very well executed where the new one looks cheap, downmarket, and unappealing to me. I think BMW saved money by eliminating high quality buttons and switches for a single mouse **** and that is the reason they are putting it in so many vehicles. I think most of BMW sales are going to repeat customers who only buy BMW , people dissapointed with poor reliability of Mercedes but still want a high end German car, and enthusiasts who read reviews that praised BMW handling and driving experience. Hopefully they drop this Bangle guy and go back to their roots with higher quality and reliability in the next generations

I gotta say it's grown on me a little. I always HATED it when it first came out. Now I still think it's kind of ugly, but I can see how some people still get them.

The Bangle 5 and 7-series are both classic examples of once a POS always a POS.

I will NEVER, EVER like these 2 cars in their present forms......you can bet the rent on that.

Don't get him started on quality
It's handling/chassis & performance still class leading.

The 5 series has always been a strong contender in it's segment. because you don't like how it looks should not affect the quality/
Well, go to a BMW dealer or a car show and see for yourself. Examine the cars. I'm not talking about just LOOKS...although the front ends and trunklids of the new cars don't do much for me either.

Compare both new cars cars to last generation 5's and 7's. Shut the doors on both....feel the door thickness and listen to the sound of the door closing. Look at the trim and gauges inside....and the I-Drive. Compare the sheet metal, trim, hardware, solidness of the seats, upholstery....almost everything. Compare the old-generation cars to the new ones in almost every way possible and I think you will see what I am talking about. Amethy brings up the point about chassis dynamics. Maybe so...but IMO there isn't much else to go with it. And...for that matter.....you can get great chassis dynamics in the Infiniti G35 with noticeably better all-around quality now than BMW.

If you still don't agree........ well, then we will just agree to disagree.
