Bangle 5-series Thread
i personally has always like the new 5 series,,,,, especially the wagon in the link,,,,,,,, i think that car is so sick...... does anybody agree with me on this,,,,,,, if i could afford the new wagon i would, until then my next car is gonna be the previous generation 5 series wagon or the older m45......
The styling of the 5 series is slowly growing on me. Not totally convinced but the overall profile looks nice. My co-worker has a 05 Silver Gray Metallic 530i, she just recently brought it in for warranty work, her power steering failed on her 3 month old car. She noticed loud groaning noises and eventually got worse.
Even troubling to me, the dealership she brought it from wouldn't take the car in for service right away after the Info screen said to take vehicle to shop immediately. The dealership...a big BMW dealership in Downey, CA (starts with an "Mc") refused to help her out and get her a loaner car. They told her she had to wait a week before she could get a loaner for warranty work. The service people were giving her the run around and was rude, so she eventually went to another BMW dealership closer to her home in the South Bay. So much for the BMW experience.

Yeah man, I feel the same as some others here. I've desperately tried to really like the car as well, and I just cant. I guess its just the fact that the previous gen 5-series was so outstanding and I was expecting more. Based on looks alone, there are cars that look so much better than this new 5-series. I however really like the new 7-series though. That model has really grown on me. I also just saw the new 2006 model not to long ago, and that looks even better.
Just 2 days ago, one of my best friends and I had this same exact conversation, and we basically came up with the same conclusion. Not a great looker.

I'm not liking the bangled series. The 7 is aight...hot actually...now the 5 is ugly as hell....the 3 is slowly growing on me, but of course I like all the older styles more for teh 3 and 5. The 6 is nice though.

That is a quite complex device with an electric motor and a set of adjustable gears and bevel devices that vary the steering ratio, input vs. output pressure, and feedback according to road conditions and input at the steering wheel. I'm not a BMW technician, but it would seem to me like this is not an easy device to repair either.....much of this stuff is either attached to the steering column or buried IN it.
the E39 was the ish! the new 5 is rather ugly... the headlights look like wings... still, BMW is selling and BMW quality is actually getting better... and performance is still there.. still, i like the classic purity of the E39
