car for my sister
I like the tC suggestion. You might also look for a used G35 sedan if she's not stuck on a coupe; you could probably pick up a 2003 for around 24 grand. The Camry SE w/ Special Edition package (I think it's only available in southeast - adds BBS wheels and factory kit) is a good value as well and I think it looks great; you'd pay 23-25 for the 4-cyl model. The new Sonata is nice - you could pick up a V6 GLS model for around 20-22 grand. Maybe a new Altima 3.5 SE; you might be able to convince a dealership to get you the keys for under 25. The Mazda3 or Mazda6 may also be worth a look. Maybe take a look at the WRX. And it pains me to even suggest it - but you could also look at the new Jetta (just typing that obliges me to say: good job with the new Corolla there, VW).
Glad to hear your sister walked from the accident and good luck with your search.

Or if you want to get her something nice and dependable, get like a 98 ES300, I picked one up for a work car at the auction last week for 3800.

right until the time she's gotta start taking it in every other two days to get some light on her dash turned off...
I would say a Tc coupe, corolla, used solara, used Accord, used prelude, civic, integra, rsx, mazda 6, mazda 3, for safe reliable fairly inexpensive sporty cars that get good gas mileage. I don't think she needs an SUV because they are pretty dangerous unless you know how to drive them, cost alot to insure, and they get very poor gas mileage. Volkswagens are pretty expensive and not too reliable and used ones can turn out to be lemons. I would definitely stay away from used Mustangs and Camaros as they are very dangerous in the rain/snow, poorly built, unreliable, loose their value quickly, cost alot to insure, and are often vandalized. They do not make good first cars.
I don't even think you can lease a Swift for $104usd in Canada.
