Mercedes M-Class SUV Recall
May 23, 2005
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said DaimlerChrysler AG is recalling 7,191 of its 2006 model-year Mercedes M-class sport-utility vehicles because a clamp that secures the power steering fluid cooling hose may be defective and could cause a loss of the fluid.
This could diminish power steering and lead to a crash, the NHTSA said.

Nothing too major, but scary nonetheless. It hurts to see this on one of their 3 brand new models they just released (CLS & SLK). But I guess the ML was never really the shining star of quality in the MB family.

is it like normal for a new model year car to have recalls because its like when a vehicle has been redesigned, something is being recalled about it, like the 2002 ES300, some clublexus member metioned the 2005 Avalon, wanst something wrong with the RX330 to?

Well it is normal, because when you re-design a vehicle, you have to pretty much redesign everything. Sometimes the little things that these companies miss are things they don't think would be a problem. So yea it is normal to have recalls. Plus it's the first year to experience problems, ya know?Originally Posted by AJL0365

i have one
and even though benz bashing is a hobby here at CL ( and one of my pasttimes) I cant say it has given me too many problems. Matter of fact the only problem Ive had with any benzes is a faulty window switch with a w208.
