New Rav4
It definitely isnt cute-ute anymore. This truck looks like a 8 cylinder engine belongs under its hood. Yall think the 3.0L Camry engine might find its way under the hood of the new Rav4 as an option(to make it Rav6?????) considering the competition has 6cylinder engines as optional?

Considering how successful the refreshed 04 LS, 04 RX, 04 Sienna, 03 4Runner, 05 Tacoma, and looks to be 06 Avalon...Toyota will have yet another undeniably class-leading product.

The rear end is not bad....in fact, pretty nice.....almost like a VW. The front is awful. Toyota seems to have an obsession with those sweep-back triangular headlights. They need to toss those things out and go back to the rectangular lights of the mid-1990's.
And why such large wheels and low-profile tires on an SUV? This is not a sports car.

I couldn't agree more about the headlights though - whatever designer/studio is pushing those things needs a stern kick in the butt and an 8 foot by 10 foot promo photo of the LS.
As for the low aspect-ratio tires and large wheels - I guess Toyota understands that none of their RAV4's have ever seen more than a 1-mile track of gravel off smooth pavement.
Let's face it - this is a college girl and/or econo-minded (or fiscally restrained) mom kinda car.

Blech...
I doubt those wheels will ever make it to showroom floors. Maybe Parts Departments as an accessory.
That atrocious front end is an obvious bite off of the Tundra front. They are trying to make it look more muscular and ballsy -- something the RAV4 always wasn't.
C'mon guys this car (yea I said car) is not a truck. It's a light duty econobox that's just really high. Why are they trying to Tundrafy it?
The rest I like tho. Real nice. I'd hack off everything from the A-pillar forward and start over.
My sister had a first gen RAV4 5-speed. Decent little car, reliable, but incredibly cheap-feeling. It's like a Paseo with a Rancho lift. That's not a complaint, just an observation. It's really an econobox so it's expected.

From what I have heard, the Rav4 will get the 3.3L V6 (225HP) as the optional engine, while the Highlander will move up to the new 3.5L (250HP or so) V6 for the next generation. I have heard though that it's more than likely that there will for sure be a V6 as an option, as the Escape, Tribute, Equinox and Santa Fe all have them.
Just Speculation and the talk I've heard in Toyota World, nothing official.

After looking at it again, I think it has somewhat of a X3 look to it.
This truck was always and will always be a chic truck , but I guess they want to branch out a little more. Get a few more guys to own this truck or look at it. But I dont think its possible considering its track record. Isnt its competition significantly bigger too? Those SanteFe's look a lot bigger than the Rav4.
I ve heard of the rumors of the 6cylinder too, but I can say that now would be a perfect time for them to put it in this truck as an optional engine. I was thinking the 3.0L, but the 3.3L works for me too.

the front looks like a sportier Tacoma. It's nice
about time Toyota attacks the mini SUV segment with something better. The first gen RAV4 looks very flimsy. The 2nd gen is better, but still not quite up to CRV level.

I think this pic proves w/o any doubt the RAV4 is targeted at only at one audience, attractive young women
