A person should buy and drive the best products that suits his / her needs...or wants.
I'm not basing it off of anyone elses stereotypes. I said "chic truck" because I think it looks feminine. And so does the Beetle and MB SLK. Its the same thing when people look at cars that are geared towards men or manly vehicles. "This car/truck looks manly, muscular powerful" or "This car/truck looks feminine." Heck, theres a debate in the RX330 section of this board where some believe that the truck looks feminine. And I believe that majority of people that I see drive these "chic vehicles" prove it. But, if a male wants to own or drive one of these, go ahead. I'm not going to stop them.

Exclamation

If Toyota gave customers the choice between a 4 & 6cyl.....they would certiainly put a huge dent into the like of the Ford Escape & Mazda Tribute V6's.

OK, Mag.....I wasn't trying to start a conflict here. In auto consulting, though, I just see a lot of people lose out on some of the best vehicles for them because they are afraid of stereotyping and "getting razzed" by their friends.....which of course is wrong. I heard one of my co-workers recently refer to the VW Cabrio as a "***" car. When I pointed out his error....THEN he understood.
And....you really can't consider the RAV4 a "truck" at all, "Chic" or otherwise. For one thing, it is basically a conglomeration of Corolla, Camry, and Matrix parts....just wth a unique body style.

I agree....looks like maybe another set of twins. Toyota and GM have a long history of doing this.....Nova / Corolla, Prizm / Corolla, Cavalier / Japanese-market Toyotas, Matrix / Vibe, and now quite possibly this.

I understand where ya coming from. Valid point. And sorry if I sounded like I was trying to get into an arguement, it honestly wasnt my intentions.

I'd say the Chevy but that's only because it looks more like the RAV4 should than that blue mess.

My sister had a first gen RAV4 5-speed. Decent little car, reliable, but incredibly cheap-feeling. It's like a Paseo with a Rancho lift. That's not a complaint, just an observation. It's really an econobox so it's expected.
And compare that to other first gen "sport-cutes." The Rav4 would still probably come out as a winner.

As for the 04 Rav 4's they no longer have that cheap feeling interior. (considering what you pay for a fully loaded) The Rav 4 has come a long way since its debut.
