I guess you can somewhat call that a happy ending. It's nice when an officer cut some slack like that once in a while-shows that they still have a heart

I gotta take acting lessons from you. Back in 1990 I got clocked doing 90 in Virginia late at night while speeding down to Florida to join my unit that was deploying to the Gulf in support of Desert Shield. I showed him my deployment orders that I had received the day before, and all my combat gear strewn all over the back seat. But the darned cop wouldn't have any of it. He gave me two tickets: one for the radar detector, and the other for speeding. I haven't contributed to any police-related organizations since then.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I have PLENTY of cop stories to tell, but way too long to start typing all of em

I'll just agree with blue in saying Good it was 80 and not 115, but still.....

I can't talk much though because it finally caught up to me as well the other day getting an 81 in a 50 zone.....in NY thats 8 pts on your license.

Needless to say, I am calming down myself as well

I guess my questions is... How come the 400 dollar Valentine One didn't pick up the radar at all or did you see some bogeys?

Second questions is can they take away your license if you are going 100MPH?

it couldn't have been laser, for which the cop would've had to have been stopped to use......maybe if the V1 didn't pick it up then the cop didn't actually clock him and that's why the cop gave him a lesser ticket.....seems all the bit more possible if the two clocked speeds were 80 and 100....nice rounded off numbers

first answer: they have this neat trick they do. they drive behind you; they watch their speedometer; and they watch you. if they are speeding and you either stay the same distance from them or pull away, they know you're going at least that fast. .3 miles is enough (may very by state).

this is, unfortunately, one of only two cases where having a V1 doesn't save you.
the other is going really fast on empty roads and being the first to get gunned.

Anyone else have a super ticket story?

(Oh...and for the responsible out there aching to chastise me, I am driving more appropriately now.)
You got hella lucky! I got a good shafting recently, let's just say it cost me $2700. I no longer go faster than the flow of traffic.
