No Toyota/Lexus in sight. (Hey no MB or BMW here either.)
I'm surprised by the 2nd place ranking of the I35. Always thought it was one of the often-overlooked cars that actually offers both great quality and good value. Also the Impreza "won" by a landslide. What's up with that?
im also incredibly surprised that the infiniti i35 is on the list... i drive a 2000 infiniti i30 which is basically the same body but with the old engine... and i havent had any problems with it whatsoever. and it has over 100k miles on it already! ive driven it to LA and las vegas several times without a hitch.. i honestly believe there is great value in this car.. drives great... the cabin is pretty quiet... except for noise that comes up from the tires/road.
Originally posted by 1mz-fe i saw the news today, there was some important guy in the middle east... he was assassinated in his Nissan/Infinity I series or something. Crazy stuff
Uh...o...kay... it could've happened in any car though, save perhaps for an MB Guard.
I am shocked there are no benzes. I bet you can't tell the people who replied on www.lemonmb.com the cars aren't lemons. I read about tranny and other problems on the I35 long time ago. Seems weird the problems weren't there on the I30.
The quality assurance, according to "The Lexus Story" is paying off! It's unreal how this company was founded and how they're striving for total Kaizen. Excellent book!
The Impreza- do they really mean WRX? Either way, these cars are true rattleboxes....
I don't think anyone over 25 owns one anyway...
The Infiniti I35... aka Nissan Maxima. No surprise here. This car is pretty ancient. It could be that people have higher expectations of an Infiniti vehicle, and this is a 10 year old platform.
Ford Focus and Escape- not too surprised- low budget econo-box vehicles. Probably mostly purchased by rental car companies anyway.
Aztek, Liberty- econo-box SUVs, both really awful vehicles.
Corvette- with performance like this for under $50K, clearly the R&D money was invested in the drivetrain- questionable fit & finish quality, though.
VW products- today's" Audi of the 80s" (the bad-old days). The Jetta is really quite plasticy and cheap inside. Heaven forbid you should take anything apart (lfor instance, to install a stereo)- it will NEVER go back together right.... My friend at Boston Acoustics had a late-model Jetta 1.8t- the best thing about it was that he managed to sell it before it totally fell apart.
Caravan, grand Cherokee, Yukon- strangely, people keep buying these awful things. PT Barnum said there was a "sucker born every minute" ... goes to show with $7,000 in rebates and cheap lease deals, the big three can sell ice to Eskimos.
A friend of mine had his 745i "bought back" under the Lemon Law... perhaps BMW/Mercedes customers (a friend of mine is a Mercedes Master Tech, I hear ALL the great stories about warranty work on these rigs... he admits the new E-Class is a total turd!) are ashamed to admit a questionable purchase?
