) so people stop saying "oh it's just an American POS blah blah blah." Carbon fiber usage along with other metal alloys and fiberglass, and getting over 25mpg is something special and all are testaments to the lightweight Z06. James

Yes there will be a Cobra 'Stang, 500hp supercharged 5.4 liter. The C6 Z06 will be 7.0 liters and 500/ 500 power (awesome). These are serious cars. Someone mentioned the weight of a 7.0 liter engine - displacement does not correlate to engine weight. The 4.0 motors in our cars will be about as heavy as the 7.0 liter (actually I bet the Vette 7.0 is lighter!) because we have fancy OHC which adds a bunch of weight to the top end. A 4.6 OHC ford motor is much heavier than a 5.0 pushrod small block ford. Power to weight, not hp/liter is what is important.
With the power that this thing puts out, I'm just amazed at the gas mileage.
GM can build amazing specialty machines like this, but their mainstream cars for the most part are POS???!!!
BTW, MT or R&T (forgot which) just tested the Z06 at 3.5s 0-60.
Makes you wonder what C&D can get with this thing.

The new Z06's should be on the streets in the next week or two, so keep your eyes out for them...they're coming. Who wants to bet me that drivers, once they get settled in the new cars will be able to hit 11.3x@ over 130 mph bone stock?

I am not that excited about all these sport cars with huge engines. A 8.3L Viper doesn't attract me, a 7.0L Corvette Z06 wouldn't also. I still prefer cars that produce high horsepower with a relatively small engine, just to save weight and make handling better. A 4.3L V8 of F430 produces 490hp, a 3.2L I6 of M3 produces 333hp, a 2.2L I4 of S2000 produces 240hp. All of them are my all time favorite engines, because they sound...high tech. The 3.5L V6 of the upcoming IS350 is also very impressive, and the Nissan's 3.5L V6 isn't bad also. But Z06's? It sounds too monstrous to me, should be a truck engine. The base Corvette should be enough for my taste.

I love big displacement. Nothing produces instant tire ripping torque like a big NA motor and not having to wait for a powerband is priceless. Torque is more fun than HP in daily driving.
