I think a lot of people will agree. A refreshing, new, and beautiful design from an American carmaker. This should be an excellent example of GM showing off their Kappa chassis. A new miata? I think it could very well be...

Looks quite good, except that the grille is ugly.

i am usually not a fan of GMs. But this car is a real beauty! It should be a serious competitor for the Miata.

Toyota hardware
Did you guys notice that inside they used a lot of Toyota Matrix-derived hardware and parts from the Vibe (the Matrix's twin)?

Not that there is anything wrong with that...in fact, it is a welcome departure from the usual fall-apart-in-your-hand cheap flimsy GM plastic hardware.

Good call.

GM knows they've got problems in the interior-department and it's nice to see that they are applying some of their (limited) resources, even to a lower-priced vehicle like this, to fix it. It started with the Vibe - which is a great car - (thanks Toyota) ... Cadillac has steadily improved; hopefully this is an indication that improvement is on the way across-the-board.

Specifications:

Engine
2.4 liter (145 cubic inch) DOHC I-4 Ecotec
Horsepower
170 @ 6400 rpm
Torque
170 @ 4400 rpm
Weight
2860 lbs / 1300 kg

Wow - they really tuned up that 2.4 liter for this application! I'm interested to see some real-world performance numbers ... but I'm going to guess that this car will run 0-60 in ~ 7 seconds. For comparison's sake - the turbocharged 1.8 liter Mazdaspeed Miata (~ $26,000) runs to 60 in just over 6 seconds.

Ever since they revealed the Solstice, the auto industry has been excited. I've only heard positive things about performance, design, quality, price, and features (i.e. convertible top). I would really like to see some pics wtih the top up however. It'll be cool to see how it does

Er.. OK, I guess I'll be in the minority and say I don't like it.

It looks like a Miata meets SLK. I don't like the mesh of the two, but the interior is quite nice. The motor leaves something to be desired also.

Well it's not the best, but I would consider it as an alternative to a Scion tC. it's about 4 grand more and will have quite a bit better performance.
