Default (PiC) Porsche GT2 Convertible??????????????

K' guys, spotted this "Carrera GT2" Cabriolet. Didn't know Porsche makes any GT2 convertible.

Base on the headlights. I would assume this "GT2" is a 00~01 996 model since the "Boxster-Style" headlights are no longer available for all 2002+ 911S (However, 01 996 Turbo do carry the current headlights design)

Thoughts?

Hmm.... to me it looks like a normal Porsche Carrera Cabriolet with a GT2 badge slapped on there....

No GT2 bodykit, not to mention with GT2s, on the back it just says "GT2" right in the center.... this one has Carrera there and then GT2 just put to the side a little offset...

I am pretty sure I am right, any Porsche nuts out there want to chime in?

Not a Porsche expert, but from my knowledge -- they never made a GT2 cabriolet in the past.
Looks like a badger.

Also, it's got no added aero upgrades or anything besides the custom wheels the guy popped on.

Did some searching and found a proposed GT2 cabriolet with the "latest" 996.

Not a GT-2. Even if the guy tried to make it a sleeper with no bodykit, the car does not have the turbo/GT-2 wider flares in the rear. This is for the added rubber of the turbo and the vents needed to keep the engine cool.

They made a GT-3 with the boxster style headlights but not a GT-2. Another giveaway.

Thumbs down

I think he traded in his convertible Z06 to get the fastest convertible from Porsche.

GT2s dont come as cabriolets, infact i beleive either next year or the following porsche will finally give the 997 turbo an option for a drop top. however i have actually seen one GT2 that was transformed into a cabriolet. but that is not a gt2 for sure.

GT2's are suppose to be stripped down for reduced weight to enhance performance. They are not going to make a heavier body convertible.

agree, it's like saving all the weight and then add a 100lb option to reduce aero dynamics
