Part of that list is B.S. The reason that insurance is so high in NYC, NJ, and D.C. is not because of traffic (although crowded conditions don't help), but because so many cars are stolen or stripped there ....especially in NYC.
The NYC gangs are legendary......they can strip a car of some of its most important parts in less time than it takes to make this post, and they laugh at all but the most absolute burglar-proof anti-theft devices possible.
if any of you are not satisfied with the premiums you're paying, try GEICO (1-800-841-3000). They offer what is probably the best service for the lowest prices, with 24-hour round-the-clock service by phone....no agents. I've been with them for almost 25 years....in Northern VA , near D.C., with a Lexus IS300, I only pay around $680 a year for full service and a low dedectable.

MASS - #5

Another reason why Massachusetts costs so much to live in.
I pay just under $2000/ year on my 11 year old SC.
I've never been in an accident and I'm 25 and I still pay more
for insurance than what the actual car costs me.

Yes...jusified or not......unmarried males under 25, all other things equal, generally pay the highest rates...especially those under 18.
And, yes, Massachusetts, like New York and California, is a state that tends to bump up the price of many things through excessive government regulations....insurance being one of them.

Like I said in an earlier post, try GEICO...if they will accept you. My guess is that if you are not already with them, you'll end up paying a lot less than $4800.
You may have never had a chargeable accident or DWI, but do you have multiple speeding , red-light, or reckless driving tickets?...That will make a difference.
Also (and this applies to EVERYONE here in the forums).....MAKE SURE that you are getting ALL the discounts you are entitled to. Many companies give discounts for cars with ABS, stability systems, at least dual airbags, factory-installed anti-theft alarms, good-driving records for 3-5 years, safe-driving courses, low annual driving mileage, and in some cases, stability on the job, military members, and being an upper-level Federal employee.
