Sigh...the issue is that Tesla's have a lot of power and if you aren't used to that level of power, you can lose control. Mustang's have the same issue.

That looks like the Tesla driver simply over-reacted to the SUV pulling too far out at the stop junction.

Yes, but speeding was clearly a factor.

This is in Brooklyn, NY - we have a 25mph speed limit btw.

Plus now we seem to be into the realms of posting videos from months ago, with neither context nor any actual evidence that FSD/Autopilot was engaged at the time of the incident.

Well yes, that's right, but that's on the driver, surely?

The more complex they make these cars, the worse off we'll be with everyone wanting self-driving.

By the way, pretty neat seeing a BMW police car. Lol

Well here's the thing, with a Tesla there will be a) onboard data that will confirm beyond doubt if the car was in fact driving itself at the time of the incident and b) video footage as well. I'm always skeptical about these until proven that the car was in fact on autopilot and caused its own accident, because if this were simple driver error the natural tendency, when you have a Tesla, would be to claim it was the car and not you...

Not by a long shot, but I'm not going to spend any more time arguing about it here. On with the thread.

I can't speak for every place in NYC, but, from what I have seen of the city, outside of some of the expressways (and assuming that THEY aren't crowded), there simply aren't many places where you can safely go much faster than 25. Too many stoplights....too many intersections....too many pedestrians....too many taxicabs stopping and starting.

GM's system works no better or worse than anybody elses. The point is, those systems aren't designed to stop a driver from running into something at full throttle. They don't take over driving from the driver.
That distinction now goes to me. I will be the last hold-out on this planet for a crossover switch. Long live the large, comfortable, quiet, roomy sedan.

You are thinking Manhattan, which is gridlocked during business hours. Other borough, which are mostly residential, have plenty of speeding.
