i usually make the cheap door sound remark about honda or something, not about lexus/audi/benz/bmw etc which have a nice THUMP to the door

Well...I DID have to replace my door hinge but then it's an old car.

On the current 996, it feels and makes the same sound as closing a Lexus door…in other words…CHEAP!

They were probebly refering to the cheap way that an LS430 door shuts for you. Yeah yeah ... that is it ... the cheap sound of a car shutting the door for you.

this is hilarious. i found the lexus doors to be very solid and close very nice (sound as well). my old acura doors close definitely not as solid. dunno what this guy is talking about.

Of course the Lexus doors may sound "cheap"...anything less than a 2-6 ton vault door closing sounds thin.

While I don't think Lexus doors sound cheap when they close, they don't compare to some German cars that feel/sound like a vault door shutting. That might be what he is saying - just came off wrong.
