Hallow door
My drivers side door was in an accident before I took ownership. When closing the door, it sounds hollow. Doesn't sound quality. I know the place that fixed it more than likely didn't put the insulation barrier back in upon completion. From what I've read, the door panel is pretty easy to take off. If I want to do this myself, do any of you know where I can purchase that insulation or what would work? Thanks!
What I did with my old car was replace the flimsy plastic stuff with large sheets of sound deadening. Just cut to size and shape. I haven't had a chance to look inside the door panels yet on my car but I suspect it's not much different. Either plastic or a foam like stuff held on with butyl.

The door, from the factory, doesn't sound hollow.
So if they fixed something and now it sounds noticably hollow, it means they didn't fix it right.
The aim should be to put it back to the way it was, not band-aid it with a bunch of mat.

I would also suggest pulling the panel off and see what's happening behind there as well.
I'm sure there are a few pics on the forum as to what the inside of the door/back of the panel, looks like.
Personally I think something wasn't repaired probably, and if that's the case, what else is wrong back there?
I think some exploratory surgery is needed.

I know whoever fixed the door didn't put that sound proofing back in there. Problem is, I have no idea who fixed the car so I can't just take it back to them. I'll take the panel off the drivers side door and passenger side door this weekend and compare the two. Passenger side sounds fine and sounds like quality when you shut the door.

Had the same issue with my car.
Front right bumper ate a blown tire that the guy in front of me shot into my path on the freeway. It whipped under my tire and slammed into the passenger door and dented it in. Took it to the collision shop who said the door was warped. They had to put a new shell on it and repaired it. Cosmetically it looks fine but it has always sounded a bit hollow to me.
Thankfully, I am in a lease. I will take it back to the collision shop if Lexus bothers me about it at the Lease return inspection.
