KIA AMERICA ANNOUNCES RECORD MAY SALES

  • Best-ever any-month retail sales surpassed the previous retail record set in August 2025; increased 11 percent over May 2025
  • Highest year-to-date overall sales through May in company history, up 2 percent
  • Telluride, Sportage, Sportage HEV, Sorento HEV, Carnival, and Carnival HEV achieved best-ever May sales
  • Hybrid and electrified models deliver record May results
IRVINE, Calif., June 1, 2026 – With 80,502 units sold in May, fast-growing Kia America continues to reach new heights led by sales through Kia retailers, which increased 11 percent over May 2025 and beating the previous retail record set in August 2025. In addition, Kia achieved a new year-to-date overall sales record of 360,220 total units sold through the 1st 5 months of the year, marking a 2 percent increase over the first five months of 2025.

Three of Kia’s most popular models including Telluride (+18 percent); Carnival (+16 percent); and Sportage (+6 percent); set best-ever May sales records, with the 2nd-generation Telluride also setting a best-ever any-month sales record and achieving 5 consecutive months of record-breaking sales. Kia’s hybrid models saw significant growth with Sportage Hybrid (+171 percent); Sorento Hybrid (+101 percent); and Carnival Hybrid (+32 percent); each achieving best-ever May sales records and Carnival Hybrid also setting its best-ever any-month sales record.

Overall, Kia’s hybrid models (+179 percent) and electrified models (+133 percent) delivered the highest monthly and best-ever May year-to-date sales totals in company history.

“Even as consumer preferences continue to evolve, Kia continues to break retail, monthly and year-to-date sales records thanks to our wide range of ICE, hybrid and electrified models.” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “With 5 consecutive months of record-breaking sales, the flagship 2027 Telluride continues to shatter all initial expectations. Traffic to showrooms nationwide is growing and we are confident that this momentum will carry us through the first half of the year and beyond in spite of recent economic challenges.”

In addition to the monthly sales performance, Kia America also made additional announcements, including:
  • As the Official Mobility Partner of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Kia provided a total of 660 vehicles, supplying key models—including Telluride, Sportage, Carnival, Sorento, K4, K4 Hatchback, and Niro—to support seamless operations across 2026 FIFA World Cup host nations in North America, U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
  • Kia Corporation and its global mission partner The Ocean Cleanup, the non-profit organization dedicated to ridding the world’s oceans of plastic pollution, have announced plans to expand operations in Greater Los Angeles to intercept plastic waste flowing from rivers into the Pacific Ocean. The project is scheduled for completion ahead of the LA28 Olympic Games and has secured backing from Los Angeles County officials, the City of Long Beach, and the City of Seal Beach.
  • Kia’s all-new 2027 Telluride X-Pro was named the best three-row family SUV by the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) after competing in the association’s annual Mudfest event. The annual competition brings together NWAPA journalist members from across the region to evaluate a wide variety of the industry’s SUVs based on off-road and everyday driving conditions.

Hyundai Motor America Reports May 2026 Sales

  • May total sales up 3% year-over-year; retail up 2%

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 2, 2026 – Hyundai Motor America reported May total sales of 87,468 units, a 3% increase compared with May 2025. It was a strong sales performance across the Hyundai lineup with sales increasing for core models including Elantra (+7%), Sonata (+39%), Tucson (+3%), Santa Fe (+2%), Palisade (+17%), IONIQ 5 (+28%) and IONIQ 9 (+279%).

Electrified vehicle sales continued to drive overall growth, highlighted by the best ever hybrid vehicle sales month, up 90% year-over-year. Tucson HEV (+ 10%), Santa Fe HEV (+30%), Elantra HEV (+29%), and Sonata HEV (+250%) all achieved new May records.

Hyundai’s electric vehicles also posted gains, up 10% across the category and a new May record. IONIQ 5 (+28%) also established its best May ever, reflecting the benefits of Hyundai’s continued commitment to the EV market.

SUBARU OF AMERICA REPORTS MAY 2026 SALES UP 10.4 PERCENT

  • Forester remains top seller for 5th consecutive month
  • Best May ever for Crosstrek
  • Best month ever for hybrid and electric vehicle sales
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 57,748 vehicle sales for May 2026, a 10.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. Forester sales remained strong, making it the volume leader for the 5th month in a row, and the Subaru family of hybrid and electric vehicles also made a growing contribution to sales, accounting for nearly 25 percent of vehicles sold.

Following Forester's top-seller position with 19,577 vehicles sold, Crosstrek achieved its best May ever, selling 17,409 vehicles, and Outback numbers continued to grow with 11,258 vehicles sold. Hybrid models of Crosstrek and Forester combined for the best-ever month of hybrid sales, and Trailseeker and Uncharted contributed to another best-ever month of Subaru EV sales, with Uncharted reaching 1,270 vehicles sold in just its second month of sales.

  • American Honda (AHM) posted a May sales increase of 9.9% on 148,903 units, with year-to-date sales reaching 623,139.
  • Honda brand posted a 10.5% increase in May with sales of 135,688 units, buoyed by strong contributions from both passenger cars and light trucks
  • Acura brand sales increased 4.1% in May, totaling 13,215 units, led by MDX and gateway models, ADX and Integra.

Sales Highlights
  • Honda brand sales totaled 135,688 units for the month, up 10.5% over May 2025, driven by sales of affordable and fuel-efficient passenger cars and light trucks, including record hybrid sales.
  • Honda passenger car sales topped 46,000 units, their best sales month in 5 years (July 2021) up 15.5% in May and 11.5% YTD. Civic led the way (26,995) with its best sales since June 2021, Accord scored its best month since May 2023 (18,688). The all-new Prelude (318) continues to achieve its sales goals as a low volume specialty model.
  • Honda hybrid-electric vehicles set a new monthly sales record of 42,583 units, led by CR-V hybrid setting a new May sales record, accounting for 54% of model sales in May, with Accord at 50% hybrid mix and Civic sales at 31% hybrid.
  • Honda light truck sales increased 8.2% in May, reaching 89,687 units, their best sales month since March 2025.
    • Light truck sales were led by CR-V with 45,141 for a record May, its 2nd best sales month of all-time and its 3rd consecutive month with sales over 40,000 units. CR-V hybrid also posted record May sales with 24,401 units.
    • Passport set a new May sales record with 5,689 units for its 2nd best month of all-time, putting the model up nearly 4% in May and 11% YTD. TrailSport models continue to account for over 80% of the mix.
    • HR-V had its best sales month of the year with 13,350 units, while Pilot posted sales of over 11,000 units for its 4th straight month over 10,000 units.
    • Odyssey and Ridgeline posted their best sales months of 2026, with Odyssey reaching 8,441 units and Ridgeline selling over 4,000 units.


Sales Highlights
  • Acura brand sales totaled 13,215 units in May, up 4%, for its best sales month of the year, driven by strong sales of gateway models and SUVs – led by MDX.
  • Acura SUVs maintained strong sales momentum, surpassing 10,000 units with MDX posting its best sales month since December 2024, up 16% on May sales of 4,504 units.
  • Acura gateway models of Integra and ADX continued their retail sales leadership. ADX posted its best month of all-time, with May sales topping 3,100 units. Integra grew 67% in May topping 2,900 units, up 34.6% YTD, marking its best sales month since April 2023.
