Hybrid Lineup Posts Multiple Best‑Ever April Results Led by Sonata Hybrid and Elantra Hybrid
April results included multiple best-ever performances across Hyundai’s hybrid lineup and key model families, led by Sonata Hybrid (+171%) and Elantra Hybrid (55%). Santa Fe Hybrid set a new April retail record with sales up 3%.
The all-new Palisade family once again demonstrated its importance to Hyundai’s portfolio, achieving best April ever retail (+10%) and total (+8%) sales. Hyundai also maintained momentum with its U.S. assembled IONIQ 5 sales growing 6% reinforcing the brand’s commitment to electric vehicles.

FAST-GROWING KIA AMERICA EXTENDS RECORD ANNUAL SALES PACE THROUGH APRIL

- Telluride, Sportage Hybrid, and Sorento Hybrid achieve best-ever April sales
- Hybrid and electrified models deliver record April monthly and year-to-date results
- Telluride, Carnival, Sportage, and K4 post best-ever April year-to-date performance
This strong momentum was led by the all-new Telluride, which continues to set sales records achieving its highest April sales total in the model’s history, up 16 percent over the previous record set in April of 2025. In addition, Sportage Hybrid (+112 percent); Sorento Hybrid (+34 percent); and K4 (+1 percent) each achieved best-ever April sales.
Electrified models posted significant gains, led by EV9 (+481 percent) and EV6 (+11 percent). Hybrid sales rose 97 percent, while total electrified sales increased 71 percent, both setting new April records.
In addition, six Kia models including Sportage HEV (+117 percent) and Sportage ICE (+5 percent); Telluride (+19 percent); Carnival (+16 percent); Sorento HEV (+7 percent); and K4 (+1 percent) – set new April year-to-date sales records. Kia’s hybrid (+81 percent) and electrified (+41 percent) models also set new year-to-date sales records.
“Achieving record sales milestones amid challenging market conditions highlights the company’s ability to align with customers evolving preferences for SUVs and hybrid vehicles,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “The 2027 Telluride continues to exceed expectations, in part due to the arrival of its first available hybrid powertrain, and when coupled with the recent introductions of the Seltos and EV3 models at the New York Auto Show, we are confident that Kia’s total market share will continue to grow.”
In addition to the monthly sales performance, Kia America also made additional announcements, including:
- The 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid has been recognized in Cars.com’s 2026 Best Value New Cars awards, earning the top spot in the Compact SUV category.
- IONNA, the charging network founded by eight of the world’s top automakers, including BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota, announced a landmark strategic partnership with leading convenience and mobility brand Circle K to significantly expand access to high-powered EV charging across the United States.

American Honda Post Strong April Sales and New Hybrid Record
May 1, 2026- American Honda (AHM) posted sales of 137,405 units in April and 474,236 units YTD.
- Honda brand posted strong April sales of 125,571 units, including a new April sales record for hybrid vehicles.
- Acura brand sales totaled 11,834 units in April, led by gateway models and SUVs.
Sales Highlights
- Honda brand sales totaled 125,571 units in April (+ 1.6%), led by balanced sales of hybrid vehicles, light trucks and passenger cars.
- Honda passenger car sales topped 41,468 units, up 19% over April 2025, for their best month since July 2021. Passenger car sales were led by Civic with its best April sales since 2021, Accord with its best April showing since 2023, and the all-new Prelude posting its best month yet.
- Honda hybrid-electric vehicles set an all-time April sales record, topping 40,000 units, with CR-V hybrid sales setting a new April sales record with 56% of model sales mix for the month of April, Accord at 54% hybrid mix and Civic at nearly 30% hybrid mix.
- Honda light truck sales reached 84,103 units, led by CR-V (42,677), its second straight month with sales over 40,000 units:
- Pilot (11,156) and HR-V (12,264) continue to post strong sales, with Pilot topping 10,000 units for a 3rd straight month.
- Passport had its best sales month of 2026 (5,447 units) with 13% YTD growth, and TrailSport models accounting for 81% of the mix.
- Odyssey maintained its strong sales pace in the minivan segment with 7,449 units.
Sales Highlights
- Acura brand sales totaled 11,834 units in April, driven by strong sales of core models MDX, ADX and Integra.
- Acura SUVs maintained strong sales, topping 9,100 units, led by MDX with April sales of 4,211 units.
- Acura gateway models continued retail sales leadership with Integra and ADX combining for their 2nd best sales month ever:
- Integra topped 2,500 units, up 27% over April 2025, with over 40% of retail sales in its segment.
- ADX posted April sales of 2,403 units, up 147%, while earning over 30% of retail segment sales.
